wernew2cruising Posted November 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2007 When you get on board, can you, instead of giving cash, write a check to the pursers desk? I really don't want to travel with a lot of cash and don't want to put my charges on my CC if I don't have to. Thanks for your help.
chrysalis Posted November 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2007 traveller's checks would be the way to go
Toto2Kansas Posted November 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2007 No, they will not accept personal checks for shipboard charges. I agree that TC's would be safer than carring a lot of cash if you don't want to add the charges to your credit card.
98Charlie Posted November 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2007 As an alternative, put the money on your credit card before you leave. If you are carrying a balance, it just reduces the balance while you are on the cruise saving you a bit of interest. If you carry no balance, I believe it would just be a credit. Check with the card company about this. Charlie
wernew2cruising Posted November 16, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks everyone. I don't have time to get to the bank so travelers checks won't work. I will just make a "payment" to the card. Seems the best solution. Appreciate all the help.

Most times that's the reason I charge to get the dollars back. Have a nice cruise!

It adds up quick if you put everything on it that you would normally spend. Just make sure that it's paid off each month. The interest would eat you alive otherwise:eek: Charlie

We did that for our trip a few months ago.
