Juneau Salmon Hatchery

We are thinking about stopping at the salmon hatchery on the way back from the $5 bus trip to Mendenhall. Can anyone tell us if the hatchery visit is worthwhile, and what the transportation options are from the hatchery back to town?

Or would we be better off just doing a dedicated trip from Juneau to the hatchery and back? Or just going to Mendenhall and skipping the hatchery (we have been to Mendenhall once already)?

You need to contact the shuttle operators MGT and/or Frontier. In the past they did not stop at the hatchery. It is very interesting with a full salmon run- the ladder is wall to wall salmon. [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] Brief "tour" and some inside exhibits- worth the cheap admission. To get there- you can take the city bus- verify return times, cab. Only about 2-3 miles from downtown.
