MonaCD Posted January 5, 2008 #101 Share Posted January 5, 2008 Is the menu in the supper club the same all nights? How is the weather on the western (Belize-Roatan) in Dec? What is there to do in Freeport? Thanks Welldone Yes the supper club menu is the same every night on every ship that has one. But there is probabaly enought on the menu to mix it up and have something diifferent every night. Please tell, which ones will shuttle you there earlier? And to you what is the best hotel to stay at? From what I understand, the shuttles won't leave before 11:30. We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott and had the front sek call a cab (van) for su about 10:30, it cost us $4 per person and we were on the ship by 11:30. We really liked the Residence Inn, had a one bedroom suite with kitchenette and pull out sofa bed. The only downside to it was there was only one bathroom and you had to go through the bedroom to get to it (I was sleeping on the sofabed) But for one night it was fine. The included breakfast was one of the best I've had for that kind of breakfast. We will be on the Glory in about 40 days!! Does the menu change at all in the $30 pp restaurant and what is the menu? I know what freiends of Bill W is but as I was looking thru the capers someone was so kind to supply there is a " freiends of Dorthoy" at the wine bar numerous times. Glen As above, the menu does not change. And Friends of Dorthy are gays and lesbians.

glentally Posted January 6, 2008 #103 Share Posted January 6, 2008 As above, the menu does not change. And Friends of Dorthy are gays and lesbians. oh well, are there any other friends out there as I don't fit in with either group. Wouldn't that be cool if I got my name on all the capers. Friends of Glen meet at all bars and casinos at all times of the day!! something to ponder

Or if you haven't already, join a roll call for your sailing, they sometimes have a meet & Greet.

LuvCruise07 Posted January 7, 2008 #106 Share Posted January 7, 2008 My DH and I went on an eastern Glory Cruise.. our first Cruise.. it definately won't be our last! We had such a wonderful time and the weather was beautiful! We just loved St Thomas and St Maarten! We had booked excursions for all of the ports with it being our first Cruise and were pretty pleased with them. In St Thomas we did Historic Blackbeard's Hill & Recommended Shopping, we got a scenic tour and Blackbeard's Hill was fun to see too. In St Maarten we did the St Maarten Island Tour, that way we were able to see the French and Dutch sides and do some shopping in both. If we make it back to this places one day, I think we may do some snorkling and do our own excursions, spend more time at the beaches. I'll have to make a note about a special Daiquiri place in St Thomas that I have since heard about! hehe I wanted to get another Camera in one of the ports, hoping to save some monies! In St Thomas the camera I wanted wasn't to much cheaper then at home, so I held out for St Maarten. I figured the worse that would happen is I wouldn't get a new camera... In St Maarten, I went into Boolchands (downtown) and saved $100 on the one that I wanted! My DH got a good deal on a new Watch at the same store, we were both happy! :D We went to the Emerald Room for our 30th Wedding Anniversary on Monday, Sept 17! It cost us $30 pp, but it was incredible! I took my camera and I am so glad I did! The food was great and really fancied up! (I will put a couple of pics in this, if I can figure out how) Everyone getting ready to go on your Cruise, I hope you have a wonderful time and wonderful weather like we did! CFDAlden Posted January 7, 2008 #107 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Anyone ever stayed in room 1061, 1063 or 1065? Have all three rooms booked for a family & friends cruise March 1, and hoping to get actual pictures of any of the three! :)

smokester Posted January 12, 2008 #113 Share Posted January 12, 2008 Just walk off the ship like we did. We had #34 tags & by 9AM they were only on #self asst. We just made our way to the gangway & walked right off - all 12 of us. One of the luggage handlers went to the back & got our luggage for us, as they put the luggage out as your # is called. We were on our way by 9:30AM.

Glen You could always put a bid on the #1 tags that are up for bid on eBay.:p We were #20 (Main Deck Forward) and were off the ship by 9:30 a.m. and I had to wait about 15 minutes extra cause I couldn't find one of my bags. I'd say most were off the ship by 10:00 a.m. You could do a self assist or lie.
oldmom Posted January 13, 2008 #115 Share Posted January 13, 2008 We stayed in room 1061-12/15/2007. We did not take any pictures of the room. Most balcony rooms are basically the same. It is a great location-right by the elevators and stairs-across the hall from the ice machine. It was quiet-only heard some kids outside a few of the nights. glentally Posted January 13, 2008 #116 Share Posted January 13, 2008 You could always put a bid on the #1 tags that are up for bid on eBay.:p . So how do they know what time your flight is? What if you are just driving? When do the "tags come to you" This is all new to me as I haven't cruised since 05.
MonaCD Posted January 13, 2008 #117 Share Posted January 13, 2008 So how do they know what time your flight is? What if you are just driving? When do the "tags come to you" This is all new to me as I haven't cruised since 05. When you go to the disembarkation talk on the last sea day, they tell you the various ways you can leave the ship. The default method is, you get the numbered "Zone" tags for your luggage the day before debarkation. You put them on your luggage and put your luggage outside your door late the last night. The next morning you just wait for your Zone number to be called and when you go to the baggage claim that zone's luggage should be coming out when you get there. If you have an early flight, you go down to the purser's desk, show them your tickets and can get a lower zone number for your luggage. You can do Luggage express for $15, you get the tags for your luggage (domestic flights and only certain airlines), put them outside your door the night before and don't see your luggage til you get to your destination airport. And self assist, you keep your luggage and take it off yourself when they call your deck for self assist.

pudy68 Posted January 14, 2008 #120 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Also, since you are all a wealth of info, perhaps you can help me with a good cabin selection. There will be 4 adults in our room, and we want a balcony. Are there specific areas to avoid, or more desirable locations? I don't want my mother kept awake with too much noise. MonaCD Posted January 15, 2008 #122 Share Posted January 15, 2008 How can I find out what the entertainment will be for the Carnival Glory the week of Apr 19th? I'll be traveling with my 60 yr old mother and two 18 yr old boys. I am hoping none will be bored! There are various types of muscians set up at different times all over the ship. There's classical, jazz, rock and roll, calypso, lounge singers, piano bar singers, broadway tunes, popular, disco dance music, country, you name it. You may have to cruise around to find the style of music any one person likes but there is something for everyone. My mother enjoyed the mucis in the lobby bar most. It ran from classical to big band and lounge singer type music.

Emerald Room is jacket and tie required. pudy68 Posted January 15, 2008 #124 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Thanks Mona, but I'm wondering more about the entertainment for the nightly shows. Sometimes they bring in specific acts, so I was hoping to learn who might be touring with them in April on the Glory.

I understand that most ships go into dry dock every 2 - 3 years...Glory was last in Dry Dock in Jan 2006...should be about time again....I am scheduled for May 2008...any chance it will be in Dry dock again by then. I see nothing is scheduled yet...How far in advance to they schedule Dry Dock?
