As You Wish Posted January 18, 2008 #126 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Emerald Room is jacket and tie required. I didn't know this the first time I went and wore a shirt and tie with no coat - they brought a jacket from the coat room and hung it over the back of my chair. When I cruised the Glory last month, we specifically asked the staff in the Emeral Room about the dress code and were told it's jacket and tie ONLY on formal nights. We went on a non-formal night and the dress code was smart casual so the men in our party wore polo or button down shirts with khakis. Some of the other men in the restaurant did have jackets and some did not.
MonaCD Posted January 18, 2008 #127 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Thanks Mona, but I'm wondering more about the entertainment for the nightly shows. Sometimes they bring in specific acts, so I was hoping to learn who might be touring with them in April on the Glory. Oops, sorry misunderstood. We had Marc Anthony onboard at Christmas, he was excellent, R&B I guess would be his style. I'll be curious who's going to be onboard for April as I'm getting back on the Glory then!! I didn't say anything cause I had only been in the supper club on the Legend but I know for sure it wasn't jacket and tie there. The lads at our table just wore shirts and trousers, not ties or jackets. But you're right jacket and tie is required on formal night in the supper club. MonaCD Posted January 18, 2008 #129 Share Posted January 18, 2008 I remember when we went up to the Golden Fleece on the Legend to make our reservation, the woman who made our reservation went though the dress code with us. What I particularly remember is her saying slippers were not acceptable footwear in the supper club. I'm guessing she mentioned it because someone actually wore slippers at least once. I guess that's taking resort casual to the extreme. LOL
teedee Posted January 18, 2008 #130 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Does anyone know who the bartender is in the martini bar? It was Sylvia on my last Glory cruise. She was absolutely wonderful, the best bartender ever. She didn't just go by what was on the menu, if you told her the kind of things you like she would make up something special just for you. I'm hoping she's still there in September. Terri

MonaCD Posted January 29, 2008 #138 Share Posted January 29, 2008 FYI Just got off the 12th Western cruise & the 2nd formal was Wed, not Thurs. Hmmmm, our cruise mates made reservations for us all in the Emerald Room for the second formal night on the Apr 5 Western sailing and was told it was Thursday. I suppose they can change it as they feel like it.
kinggartk Posted January 30, 2008 Author #139 Share Posted January 30, 2008 I want to know about the pool in the Spa Area...Is there a cost to use it, or can anyone come and go as they please?
teedee Posted January 30, 2008 #140 Share Posted January 30, 2008 It's been almost a year since my last Glory cruise, but unless it's changed there is no charge to use the spa pool. Terri
vbsnyder Posted January 31, 2008 #141 Share Posted January 31, 2008 We will be sailing from port Canaveral on the 9th of August on the Glory. We sailed from here 5 years ago on our 2nd cruise and I recall it to be quite a long wait. That was before the Fast Pass. We also will be arriving via shuttle from our hotel and not on a bus from the airport. Do you have any suggestions for us? Do you know how early they allow you into the terminal. We have never sailed the Glory, but this is our 6th Carnival Cruise and we have loved everyone of them. Thanks
MonaCD Posted January 31, 2008 #142 Share Posted January 31, 2008 The shuttles provided by the hotels do not start to depart for the port until 11:30. If you want to get there earlier you will have to take a cab. We got a van cab from the Residence Inn for $4 per person and it was great because we avoided the crush of people at 11:30. NCTribeFan Posted February 13, 2008 #144 Share Posted February 13, 2008 It's official! I'm booked for 5/17 Western! :D I've read a lot of the thread, but hope to read it all as I'm getting into my busy season at work. I'm really concerned about being on a ship this size. If you look at my sig, you'll see that I'm working my way up from a couple of rather small ships and a few Fantasy-class sailings. Loved the Miracle, but I really have a fondness for the Fantasy-class ships (note I've also booked Fascination for December). I know my way around them and they're so easy to navigate. We'll be driving to the cruises this year (it was the only way I could afford to sail twice) and I need to figure out where to stay and what to book for excursions. I should've done this a month ago before I got so busy. Maybe it's a good thing, though, as I tend to totally obsess over the planning and decision-making. Since it's DD and I, I have to make all the plans. Whatever we decide to do, I'm sure it will be a great vacation.

Congrats....We will be debarking the Glory as your are Embarking...Will try to leave some food for you, no promises though. Look into staying at the Radisson or Country inn and suites. At both places, you can park your car and leave it there for the duration of the cruise. They will shuttle you to the port. The rates for the Radisson right now are $129 which includes 1 night hotel stay, Parking for the length of the cruise, shuttle to the port and two free buffet breakfasts. NCTribeFan Posted February 13, 2008 #148 Share Posted February 13, 2008 And are those lounge chairs I see out there on the front decks? Are those decks accessible through the not-so-secret doors? That is exactly what I want for my cruise. We found one of those decks on our little RCI Empress and spent all out at-sea time out there. No, it wasn't convenient to beverages or food, but it was so peaceful and quiet. That's exactly what I'll need after reverting from a balcony back to an inside! I'm fairly sure that any of the areas accessed by the "secret doors" don't have lounge chairs. I think the ones in the picture may be crew decks. If I remember correctly, some may have benches, though. For the kind of area you're seeking, I'd suggest the deck right outside the doors through the main lobby. Although it's shaded, it's peaceful and quiet, with plenty of comfy deck chairs.
gandh621 Posted February 14, 2008 #150 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I have a couple questions about the Glory too since I didn't see them answered in this thread (if I missed them please forgive me). Anyway, does anyone know........ 1. Does the Glory have any midnight buffets...chocolate or regular food? 2. Does the Glory have any deck parties and if so, what are the themes? 3. Is the casino pretty good sized??? 4. Are any of the pools adult only???? Or open 24 hours? (or late?) Thanks!!!!! Holly:D
