Embarkation/Debarkation from Vancouver

Can someone please advise me on where to meet my cabin-mate at Vancouver Airport? I had thought that the baggage claim area might be OK, but maybe Customs comes after that?

FYI, we are travelling from the airport, independently, to Canada Place, on 7/12, to board the Princess Sun.

I'm giving very SERIOUS thoughts about taking the train from NoCa up to Seattle, bus to Vancouver for my cruise, then reverse back down to home. I'd really like to take the train directly to YVR, but I don't think I can find one. It's only about $175 round trip, and I certainly don't mind the time spent on the train.

Customs comes before the baggage pick up if you're flying in from the States. Maybe meet by the "Special Baggage" area. Or down by the entrance to the don't know what it's called...where you have to pay extra fees if you went over your limit ;).
