PADI class onboard

I have not heard of having the full PADI classes on board. You would have to take an awfully long cruise. It's probably a resort course that you're looking at. We've done several of those and love them. We are going to get PADI certified but it takes about 3 weeks plus a trip down south to do the checkout dives.

You can take a full PADI course on board. However, it will take away so much time from the cruise (there is class time, pool time and studying on your own), is it really worth it? It also depends on your itinerary. You will need to dive at multiple ports to get the required amount of dives in. If the weather is bad and not conducive to diving, you won't be able to complete. My advice is take the classroom/pool sessions at home prior to cruising and then take your open water dives while on the cruise. You won't have to waste class time on the ship and you'll get to do your dives in some of the warmest, most beautiful water in the world.
