Globaliser Posted November 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2007 * Airport to City Center ( Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam Hotel - Damrak 1-5 ) * Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam Hotel - Damrak 1-5 to Cruise Terminal Subject to the amount of luggage you have, and whether you can wheel it, the best way of getting from the airport to your hotel will be by train. If I've got the address right, the hotel is less than five minutes walk from Centraal station (the main train station for Amsterdam). It's basically the other side of the main road from the station forecourt. And if you've got good wheeled luggage, you could probably walk to the cruise terminal from the hotel. CincinnatiGal Posted November 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2007 Hallo! First the best way to where you are staying in Amsterdam is to take the train from Schipol Airport into the centre of Amsterdam and get off at Central Station. There are major steps to go up though if you are carrying luggage and that could be your biggest problem if you cannot carry your luggage up flights of stairs and down flights of stairs. Central Station is a very busy place and your hotel is located very, very close to Central Station. Buy a tram pass for the day as soon as you get off at Central Station and walk outside you will see a booth to your left where you buy the tram passes. That will take you all over the city!! It is worth it to get your view of such a wonderful European City at its best. If you are riding the tram be careful for pick pockets as they work all public transportation in Europe. Remember, their is crime everywhere. PAY ATTENTION. Take a moment to view the canals and go to Anne Frank house as well as the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijjs Museum. View the flower markets on Singel too! Go to Cafe Hoppe for a bier and a glass of jeenever gin. Wow--and if you like herring remember to stop at the street vendors of herring stands. This is a true dutch treat. Also, the pomme frites stands are good two! Tots Zien! CincinnatiGal:D
Ine Posted November 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2007 Can anyone shed some light on the Best / Easiest / Cheapest ways to get from the * Airport to City Center ( Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam Hotel - Damrak 1-5 ) * Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam Hotel - Damrak 1-5 to Cruise Terminal * Cruise Terminal to Airport ...any information would be greatly appreciated. PJ and Amy Park Plaza Victoria Hotel is directly opposite Centraal Station. You will see it in front of you when exiting the station. Just cross the street, but watch out for the trams.... You can take the train (at least 4 each hour) from the airport to Centraal Station, which will last about 15/20 minutes. Costs ow. 2nd class: Eur. 3.60 p.p. 1st class Eur. 6.10 p.p. Maybe slightly higher in 2008. Or take the shuttlebus, more expensive but it will bring you right in front of the hotel: http://www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl/site/toonhotel.asp From the hotel to the cruiseterminal, depending how much luggage you have, walk to Centraal Station and take the tram (25) from centraal station, which is only 2 stops. (watch for the right direction). Or a cab, short drive in just over 5 minutes. From cruiseterminal to airport: either a cab again. (Sorry to tell I know they overcharge there..), will be about Eur. 50.- (or more) or walk or take the tram to Centraal Station and train again to the airport.
