Santa Marta snorkeling?

Now that there's a Colombia board, I'll try posting here -- I got no responses in the South America board.

 

We're going to be in Santa Marta, Colombia in a couple of weeks, and we're wondering about snorkeling possibilities. The Azamara shore excursion offerings don't mention anything about snorkeling, but Googling tells me there are some nice snorkeling beaches in the area. Does anybody know how easy they are to reach from the dock? Are there taxis or boat rentals easily available?

 

For that matter, does anybody know whether either of the Azamara Tayrona excursions have snorkeling available, even though not mentioned in the (skimpy) description?
