farmergirl56 Posted November 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2007 My son -23 yrs- just bought a white linen suit and wants to wear it with a Tony Bahama shirt. I think Don Johnson - Miami Vice of course he doesn't remember the show. Would this be okay for one of the formal nights. He is bringing his dark suit also
eandj Posted November 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2007 He'd probably feel more comfortable in a dark suit for a formal night. He could wear the white one on the semiformal nights. But...he's going to wear what he wants and feels comfortable in, isn't he? If you're doing a 7 day, there are 2 formal nights and he can wear the dark one first and then he can decide if he'd feel good in the white for the next formal night. Generally ties are worn on formal dinner nights.

Agree. The white linen will be a cool look for sure, but it's definitely not formal. He'll look fantastic on the non-formal nights yet, out of place in it, on the formal nights, IMHO. Langley Cruisers Posted December 1, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2007 Don Johnson was so cool. He still is. I have a soft spot for him. :p Agree with the others who said he shouldn't wear it on formal night. I honestly think he'll stand out in the crowd, plus, does he know how easily linen wrinkles? ;) I love the look of linen but could never bring myself to buy it because of the wrinkle factor. Mark_from_Plano Posted December 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2007 There's no better place in the world to wear a white linen suit than on a cruise. I'm taking several linen pieces (shirts, trousers and a sports jacket) but don't have a linen suit (wish I did). He'll look great. That said, I agree with the others that it's better for an informal or casual night.
