Enchantment vs. Splendour South America?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any opinions on the two ships? I know the itineraries I am looking at in 2009 are both new:

Splendour is an 8 day, leaves from Sao Paulo, goes to Portobelo, overnight in Buenos Aires, Uruguay, and Ihabela, and back to Sao Paulo.

Enchantment is a 7 day, leaves from Panama, leaves from Panama, goes to Cartagena, Santa Marta, Orangestad, Williamsted, Bonaire and then goes back to Panama.

Its for my parent's 40th anniversary, and my husband and I will join them My father mentioned he'd like to hit some South America ports, and my Mom enjoys cruising, and will typically be happy with anything.

Dad is active, Mom is not, neither are beach, pool, or spa people, but they do enjoy the casino.

I'd get a balcony for us, and a suite for my parents)

I'm also posting on the ports board so I can see what others may say, but I am also interested in thoughts on the 2 ships.

I've sailed on the Enchantment. Never been on the Splendour.

The Enchantment has been stretched and refurbished, so it is larger and "newer" than the Splendour. Both have Concierge Lounges now. The Enchantment's is spacious and lovely, but the pictures of the Splendour's look even better, if that is possible.

The Enchantment has bungee trampoline jumping. It has Chops, while SOS has no specialty restaurant. The WJ was enlarged and updated, too.

If I were you, I would select based on which itinerary appeals to you more. If the Panama Canal is something you have all been dying to see, the choice is obvious. If you just want to see parts of Central and South America that you haven't seen before, decide which ports hold more allure for you.

Sorry that I can't say "DO THIS."

I am sure that you will all have a great cruise, regardless of your choice.

:)
