His birth certificate if missing one letter in his last name, is this going to cause a problem? We leave Dec. 22, 2007, for a family Christmas Cruise. Lulachick Posted December 4, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2007 Call the County where it came from and fax them a copy of the BC that you recieved and a copy of his DL and they should send you a new copy at their expense. My DD name was spelled wrong on her BC but was correct in Raleigh,NC so the county she was born in had to issue a new BC at no extra charge to us. Rare Essiesmom Posted December 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2007 Waaay long time ago, my mother was escorting my sister's Girl Scout troop to Mexico, and had to get her first birth certificate (at age 50) so that she could get a visitors card to enter Mexico. When it came, it listed her name as Harriet Louise, instead of Olive Louise! She had been born at home and apparently the doctor couldn't remember precisely what her parents had named her! Fortunately, her mother was still alive, and could write a letter stating the problem, and was able to get it changed. (Fancy living fifty years under the wrong name...). bnsilly Posted December 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2007 It probably won't be an issue...My name is mis-spelled by one letter as well..Our conclusion is that my mother was probably out of it at delivery, and my father probably told them how to spell my name....lol My name on my birth certificate is spelled Pamala...my mother was not aware of this and for 38 years I have spelled it Pamela. Someone whom I know is scheduled for the Carnival Freedom this Saturday and just rcvd her bc with the wrong name - first, middle, and last. Someone whom I know is scheduled for the Carnival Freedom this Saturday and just rcvd her bc with the wrong name - first, middle, and last. WOW...when you say "wrong" name..you mean an entirely different name? Has she ever gotten a BC with the correct name on it? Since my GP's were dead when she found out she could not ask them about it. I never found out what she wound up doing. She is in her 80's and did not find out until she was almost 80. She had to get a notarized letter from a relative who has known her for a length of time state that reason for the names being different. They wouldn't accept that. Then, it ended up that when she came back, in Galveston, they asked me if I would sign and swear to her name, being her daughter, and that was all they needed. She has never used her BC first or middle name, but just started using a nickname and her DL and Passport was issued in that name - as was her reservation.
