transfer FLL airport to RCI port

Thinking about booking Jan 31 cruise out of FLL and arriving day of sailing at 12:30. What is the best way and cost of transfer to the port from the airport? Or has experience proven it best to come in the day before and stay at a hotel? If so, is a car rental advisable? Tips are appreciated!

Are you flying into FLL and sailing out of Port Everglades? If so, a taxi is the best way to go. If at all possible, it is best to come in the day before, especially if 12:30 is the earliest arrival time you can find on the day of the cruise.

I know nothing about the area and the port. All RCI says is Enchantment sails out of Ft Lauderdale, and I looked up and found there is an airport there. I prefer to come in the day before to eliminate stress if nothing else. What area is best to stay? We don't care about anything spectacular... just clean, safe and convenient. suggestions?
