optex Posted December 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2007 Hi, We're a family of 4 arriving in Tunis on Dec 26th on the MSC Musica (the port of call just got switched from Libya to Tunisia). Does any one have any contacts for private tour companies in Tunis and suggestions for what to see? Also, I've read that the taxis are metered in Tunisia-- would hiring a cab for the day be a good option?
Maryandi Posted December 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2007 Hi- Don't worry every ship has to change out of Libya, we did too in April. Tunesia was substituted and we took a HAL ship tour to Carthage & Sidi Bou Said. We thought that just about covered the best of the area. kihei228 Posted December 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2007 Depending on how long you're in port ( we were there from 8am to 6pm ) you can see Tunis and the souk, the Bardo museum ( unbelievable mosaics), Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. We were somewhat disappointed in Sidi Bou Said, it seemed somewhat touristy. We were there last month on an Oceania cruse.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2007 If you take a taxi cab negotiate the price up front. You can usually negotiate for a round trip ride where the cab driver waits for you and you pay the driver when you return to the cruise ship. Host Karen Posted January 31, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Does anyone know what the cost for a taxi is approximately? Since I have done absolutely no research on this city yet, I also don't know what currency is used. Thanks!
