Malibu Beach or the Boatyard?

:) I am confused. I am thinking of going to Malibu Beach so I can also visit the rum distillery and the pictures look nice. Does the beach have a restaurant to get a bite to eat? Or is the Boatyard just a nicer beach with better restaurants? Thanks for your help. I will be there in Feb.2008. Linda

I am thinking of going to Malibu Beach so I can also visit the rum distillery

and the pictures look nice.

Does the beach have a restaurant to get a bite to eat? ===> I'm pretty sure..yes.

Or is the Boatyard just a nicer beach with better restaurants? ===> yes.

Geez..why not do both! - they're not that far apart..

I'd do Malibu first and then Boatyard.

I'm fairly sure the $15 Boatyard entrance fee

also gives you a 'free' taxi ride back to the ship!

Beat that!:)

Boatyard has the edge I reckon

a breezier beach that curves around in a semi-circle for like 2 miles

so by walking it you can get varying wind and wave conditions

depending on which part of the curve you're on

if you can follow that location-logic...:)

Bear in mind that Boatyard is just one place along that 2-mile curve called Carlisle Bay

I should mention that right next door is a cool seafood place

called Lobster Alive - and they also offer beach chairs and big umbrellas,

so it's not like you have to go to Boatyard...

check my pics at

you'll see.

the 2 beach scenes and (my!)Lunch are Lobster Alive.

The view of Malibu is unfortunately from their street side

probably your first view of the place

when you get there by taxi.

How much is the taxi ride there from the pier?
not that I'm an expert on local taxi fares(I'm not, and readily admit it)

but it's about five bucks?

Boatyard is just slightly beyond the Broad Street shopping area. not far!
