Distance from port to Puntarenas town

CSU

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled Dec. 26, 2007 to stop at Puntarenas on Island Princess. Two separate questions

1) Is the town within walking distance

of where the ship docks?

2) Is there a nice beache within walking distance of the docking area?

We are on the Island Princess in Feb - is it safe to wonder on your own in Costa Rica?

We walked up into town & to the supermarket & back along the beach ..it does look scary but if you keep your wits about you it is fine.

We walked all around down by the beach. There were many craft stalls, don't know if they are there all the time. My wife went in a cafe and had lunch, I did other things. Is it safe; just keep an awareness of what is around you. A number of years ago my wife and daughter visited San Juan, Costa Rica and the taxi driver told them there was no crime in Costa Rica but, he said they needed to be sure and not leave their purses unattended.
