Cable Beach any info??

We just found out that our May 15th Navigator trip will be stopping in Nassau instead of Labadee. We are not really interested in any shore excursions from the ship, just want a day at the beach. I've read several posts that mention Cable Beach, but I didn't find much information about it. How do we get there from the ship...I'm assuming taxi, but is there a public drop off point for the beach or do we have to enter through a hotel? Also, how easy is it to get a taxi when we are ready to leave? Is the beach itself nice? If this isn't the best beach for just sitting around, which one would be better(no need for jet skies or snorkeling, although we do have equipment). Anyone with any info, I'd appreciate your comments.

We went to Cable Beach in April on our Miracle cruise. The taxi dropped us off at Crystal Plaza Hotel. You have to enter through the hotel. Nobody bothers you there. You can even use the pools. It was easy to get a taxi back, just go out to the front of the hotel to the conceirge and there is usually a taxi or 2 waiting for customers. It shouldn't cost more than $5 per person each way and it is about a 15 minute trip. We enjoyed it. Last year we went to a public beach 2 doors down from the Atlantis and that beach wasn't nearly as nice as Cable Beach and there were no facilities for us to use.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info loops. I also learned that the British Colonial Hilton allows use of their beach and facilities. According to the post it's not far from the cruise ship dock. I went to both Hilton's and Crystal Palace Hotel's website and both had nice beach pictures. Now just have to decide which one we want to sit on. icon_cool.gif

I went on a land-based vacation to Breezes on Cable Beach. They do offer day-passes as we sat one day next to some people who had done that, but I don't remember how much it cost. They had access to everything at the hotel - beach, activities, food, drinks, etc. It was a nice place & a lot of good stuff going on during the day. Maybe something to think about if it is not too much $$

The Raddisson on Cable Beach is a better beach than Crystal Palace (which is now a Wyndham).

All of those hotels are free to use.

Don't bother with the cab - it's a waist of money. When you get off the ship, walk one block into town and get on a #10 bus. (Ask anyone where the stop is, all the natives use this.) It is $1 per person and will drop you off right in front of the Hotels on Cable beach. The cab is like $15.

It runs every couple of minutes, and is almost the exact same ride as a taxi. (The bus makes like 3 stops - that's it)

Coming back, just walk across the street from where you got droped off, and they will let you off right near the pier.
