Kayes Posted December 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2007 I'm from Belgium and I booked a 16-day and a 4-day cruise next Oct/Nov and paid them in full before the announcement. At first the surcharge was showing for the two bookings, but a few weeks ago it just dissapeared from the 4-day cruise and never came back. The charge is still there for the 16-day. Do Europeans have to pay the surcharge or are they extempt like the Canadians? I booked directly with Carnival in the US (international reservations) Any experiences from fellow Europeans? klfrodo Posted December 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2007 I think you'll find that not all Canadians are exempt. There are a couple of Provinces in Canada that specifically address the "surcharge" issue under their consumer protection laws as I understand it. Canadians who booked with a U.S. based travel agency still have to pay the surcharge. Once again, this is only my understanding after reading through the various threads. It will totally be up to the consumer protection laws based in the country where you booked your cruise.
