Which restaurants charge fee on Gem?

We just booked on the Norweigan Gem for March 15, 2008. We have only ever cruised on Disney before where all restaurants were included without fees, except for one. Just wondering how many of the Gem restaurants charge an extra fee. Thanks.

I recently returned from on of the one night introductory sailings. The following info was given for the specialty restaurants with a cover charge:

Cagney's (steak house) - $20

Orchid Garden (Chinese/Japanese/Thai) - $10

Sushi Bar - $15

Teppanyaki (Japanese Grill) - $20

No info was given for Le Bistro or La Cucina.

The Grand Pacific, Magenta, Garden Cafe, and Blue Lagoon are included.

I hope that helps to give you some idea.

Enjoy your cruise!

Le Bistro would be $15 as per other NCL ships

La Cucina is a no extra charge specialty restaurant

I'm booked on the GEM for 11 nights starting 6 February. Will try to post my impressions day by day throughout the cruise. Since we will be trying the various restaurants (both fee and no fee), I'll include my impressions and our experience.

My TA just got back from a GEM cruise and she swears the 'no fee' Italian restaurant is excellent.

Thanks everyone for your information.

We are not extremely particular about our food - not our main reason for going on a cruise. We also have three children - two teenagers and a ten year old who are also not picky. They usually opt for the quickest meal just to get it over with and get onto the fun stuff. Are the buffets and other restaurants without fees okay for "people like us?" Thanks so much.:o :o

The buffet on the Gem is AWESOME! That's your best best for a quick in-and-out. But I'm sure you'll enjoy the other no-surcharge restaurants as well! :)

I cruised on the Pearl, Gem's sister ship. The "action stations" in the buffet make this dining venue the best buffet on any cruise ship, IMHO. It is "awesome" as another poster just mentioned. The layout is great, offers excellent flow and the freshly prepared food is great!
