quebec hotel pre-cruise help

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a hotel for my parents and friends in Quebec City pre-cruise in Sept. (going on Eurodam 9/11). Any suggestions? Hotel options through HAL are Frontenac (already waitlisted) or Chateau Hotel Laurier Quebec. They didn't offer others but there may be some I don't know about.

Any other ideas. They like the idea of transfers being included in the hotel deal but this is not a deal breaker. Any info greatly appreciated.

I have personally tried these three hotels and have enjoyed them all for various reasons.

If given a choice, I would probably choose the clos St-Louis. It's a smaller romantic hotel with a charming country feel (the rooms are smaller though)and it is inside the walls of the old city on the same street that leads to the Château Frontenac. If you go on their website, you can actually view the rooms. The other two hotels are also good choices for standard hotels for a cheaper price but they lack the character the Clos St-Louis has. As for the Château Frontenac, it's the landmark of Quebec city's skyline but I find it highly overpriced. I would recommend to pay it a visit but I would personally not sleep there. Hope this will help you!

There are several hotels within walking distance of the cruise terminal, the closest being the Hotel Port Royal, the Hotel Dominion 1912 and the Hotel Saint-Antoine. Also close are the Hotel Le Priori and the Auberge Saint-Pierre. All of these are small, boutique-style hotels housed in restored historic buildings that are well-regarded. I have no personal experience staying at them, since I live in QC, but when I worked at the tourist bureau a few years ago, all (except for the Port Royal, which wasn't open at the time) were used regularly for visiting journalists, thus were considered sure bets.

The other hotels mentioned in this thread are also highly regarded, all situated in Upper Town, thus further from the cruise terminal (which is in Lower Town), but still within easy reach by taxi.
