RCCLismyfav1 Posted December 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2007 St. Thomas for sure...St Maarten tends to have really windy days which is not good for snorkeling.
islandwoman Posted December 30, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2007 St. John. You can get there by taking the ferry from St. Thomas or take your ship's snorkel tour to the U.S. Virgin Islands National Park on St. John.
Stevesan Posted December 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2007 Definitely St Thomas/St John. Snorkeling at St Martin is poor to fair unless you go to an outer island. Hrere's an excellent web site for info about beaches, ferry schedules, taxi fares etc.: Enter the usual www followed by vinow and then dot com. CC won't permit a direct link. Cindy Posted January 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2008 We thought the snorkeling was much better in St. Thomas. We had only snorkeled in the Western Caribbean before our Mariner trip last summer, and I thought the experience was very different. The coral formations I've seen on past trips were more spectacular, but I saw more sea life in the Eastern Caribbean. Here are a couple pictures. The first is a sea turtle in St. Thomas, and the second is a starfish in St. Maarten.
