Platinum Club

Actually, I'd be happy to just receive the Platinum perks that are advertised on the CCL website, which are also listed on the letter in your cabin on arrival. I found out this year that not all Platinum passengers receive all the perks. Two were denied earlier this month. A real bummer!

Don....so less than 5%. It would be very special to have a "club" with only 90 or so of our friends to enjoy. Relaxing and no bustle !

Nice Idea...but I could not see maintaining an entire lounge (space and staffing) for only 90 or fewer pass.

How much time would any of them actually spend there.

I would love to meet other Platinum Cruisers....

But...I'd hardly be like.......Oh I'm off to rub elbows with the Platty's.....and to avoid those more common cruisers......;);) (Insert Thurston Howell and Luvvy here):)

I'd rather see cash perks.....like drink or excursion discounts.

Like I said above......I'd rather see cash perks.....like drink or excursion discounts.

Or "Real" Upgrades.....we always seem to miss the boat there....We book a 4A or 6A or 8A Guarantee and that's what we get.......(I know we got what we paid for...But I'm talking about 14 Carnival Cruises here)

on occasion we've gone from maybe a 6A to a 6C.....but usually Not.

We tried the "Wash & Fold" laundry service last cruise....

It was more like "Wash & Wad" there was no way we would be able to wear any of those clothes again without a heavy Ironing. Even like a Polo Shirt or Jeans were too wrinkled to try hanging up to get the wrinkles out.

and it's hard to wrinkle jeans !

Is that typical of Wash and Fold ? Or did we just have a bad experience?

The VIP boarding is nice......

The Petit fours and all that are a nice little touch, but our went to waste.

Actually outside "Real" discounts that we can actually see.."Super Upgrades" ..and maybe that VIP boarding thing........they can pretty much keep the rest.

Sigh.....WE Platinum Cruisers have it so hard....No one understands our Burden .:rolleyes:

It seems like there is a huge ammount of platinum members from reading these boards. It stands to reason that the number of platinum members will continue to increase exponentially as more and more people start cruising. They may end up having to scale the program back, or increase the number of cruises required to attain Platinum status. 90 something Platinum guests may not sound like much on a 3000 pax. ship, but each of those people will have to be escorted past the tender lines, debarkation lines, etc. That will become increasingly hard for the crew to handle. I thought it would actually be less than that, maybe 20 or 30 at the most.

Mine have been 'wash-n-wad' as well. But since I don't intend to re-wear items during the sailing, mine is more for the convenience of having to not wash them at home on return. All I have to do is spritz with water and iron.

We check the Platinum list on every cruise and it is usually 1 to 2% of the cruising folks onboard. The most we have seen on the list (which you can see at the casino or the Purser's desk) was 31 on the Victory. We have seen as little as 8 (4 of which were us).

We have used the Wash and Fold (sometimes twice) on every cruise since March 2006 and LOVE IT. We have sent jeans, t-shirts etc and have gotten them back better than I do it at home. Now I would never send any delicates or anything with any sentimental value...because things can happen. We always have at least 15 pieces and they have never lost or damaged anything.

I think the "lounge" should be for Milestone Reward Members~!!~ :D

We did the wash and fold on our last two Platinum cruises and plan to again in a few weeks. They always returned our clothes in a strange folded way but never wadded. A nice tip may have helped to get things done in just a few hours as well. :)

Just to clarify, for the sailing I was referring to (with the 91 Platinum passengers), we didn't have to do any tendering, so no crew interaction was needed there. For debarkation, we received a note in our cabins to meet as a specific location (about as close to the exit doors as possible) early that morning, and waited for the government folks to finish with their business. Then Asst CD, James, said something equivalent to, "Gentlemen, start your engines". And we were off. No crew members interacted with us at all. We just followed the printed information from the previous day.

On the Fantasy in Sept. I looked at the platinum list and it was only 10 of us. Maybe on the 7 day cruise it would be more.

On the Elation in December there were only 6 Platinum guests. We tried the Wash & Fold and were very happy with the results. I think our cabin stewardress Yulie did it herself. So a extra tip for her.

Sure, don't mind you asking at all. This was for Carnival Glory a few weeks ago.

In the VIP lounge, after they found my S&S card (not in that room, again) I noticed that the dining time printed on the card didn't match the requested time that was on the printed embarkation form I'd handed the port staff. Very nice lady, but her reply was simply, "Yes, you're right". It was suggested I get that adjusted at the purser's desk. Purser's desk seemed to be having issues, and said they were too busy to take care of it on Day 1, and that I should go to the dining room and speak with the MD. So off I went, and found my request fell on deaf ears. He explained that since I was cruising solo, I'd have to dine with other solo cruisers, and for the late seating that would be 8:30, and not the 8:00, as I'd requested. When I finally stood my ground and explained that Platinum was guaranteed, he said, "I do not care the color is. If you want to dine in dining room, you will seat at 8:30. Next!". <<Grammar is not me own, since I wanted to give his words verbatim. [Note: the same initial answer was given in October on Sensation, but nowhere as rude, and they did make the adjustment]

Went to the casino to register for the slot tournament. The very nice cashier couldn't find my name, and after two tries, asked me to check the sheets as well for my name. Nope, not there. She then asked, "Who else is in your cabin? We can look for their name". I explained that I was the only one in the cabin, and she immediately went, "Oh, that may be why". She quickly wrote in my name by hand on the last page, and there was no problem with me entering the slot tourney. Of course the fact I sucked beyond sucked with my points results was not her fault. [Note: coincidentally, my name wasn't on the sheet in October for Sensation]

Checked with the concierge desk on Day 2 to get my name added for the "exclusive behind the scenes tour of the galley", and was reminded there was going to be a regular one for all passengers later in the week. I thanked her for the info, but said I was still interested in the special one. She said I'd be contacted later with the arrangements. In the following days there was no contact, so I went back to check, and was advised that since there was limited interest, the only one available was the one for all passengers.

Now, on the bright side. . . the canapes and petit fours were delicious. The priority access for the onboard immigration the day of San Juan was a real time-saver. Quick access to the concierge desk was very convenient (normally I never have to visit, but his cruise required multiple trips). And priority debarkation came in quite handy this sailing.

The same thing happened to us, and I want to say it was also on the Glory (but who knows!!). We called the purser (day 2) asking about the SPECIAL galley tour. We were told it would be later in the week, and we would be notified prior to the "event". On day 6 I called again. Their response was "the galley tour for platinum guests was YESTERDAY"...

Don - looking forward to seeing you again NEXT MONTH!!!

Regarding the wash and fold... PERFECT for shorts/jeans, t-shirts, socks and underwear. But NOTHING "nice"!

Interesting. I had to ask too. I was told we were to meet in the atrium at 10:30 that morning. So we did. We were the only ones there. Waited 10 minutes, and then went back to the concierge desk, they called, and someone came out. We ended up getting a private escort.

Through the whole tour, I recognized the words BDED PUTINK.

Guess what was for dessert at lunch!

How about this idea: Since the longer CCL cruises have past guest parties, how about CCL staff having all Platinum members in attendence at one of these parties stand and receive a round of ovation? It would also help CCL promote Platinum level obtainment and the other perks associated with it. I bet a lot of the first time cruisers (or returning guests for that matter) have little to no idea what Platinum is all about!:)
