Port Canaveral or Disney World the night before departure?

Hi! We are a group of 6 adults (30ish) sailing on the Sovereign of the Seas in May, and we cannot decide where to stay the night before departure, although I think that we are leaning on staying at Disney World the night before and spending some time in Downtown Disney. What would you do and why?

We are going to DW and then a RCI cruise in April. I checked the prices for hotels new Port Canaveral and found them to be much higher than the hotels near Disney. Since we will have a car we are planning on staying near Disney and driving to the Port the day of embarkation. We will spend 3 nights precruise near DW and one night post cruise by Orlando airport. We want to see the Space Center so we will take the cruise line tour - and the hop a shuttle to a hotel by the airport.

 

There are a couple of restaurants and hotels that the Mariner regulars seem to like. So either way you go - you will have a good time. Check the places you want to go to near Disney - the admission for some of them can be expensive.
