I'm a little concerned...

There does not seem to be very many posts (good or bad) regarding the Pride and the Mexican Riviera. Is this not a popular ship or sailing? Or do the Pride people just not comment on the boards. We were booked on the Miracle previously and it seemed that every other thread was about the Miracle. Unfortunately, we had to change trips - and now I am concerned that maybe I did not pick a good alternative. Help me Pride cruisers? What's the deal?

Hi Vckie, i live in Clovis also...only in California.

At the risk of getting flammed i will say, i "personally" don't care for the mexico cruises, although i do go on them (leaving in 2 weeks) I just go for a quick getaway and leave the Caribbean for the big vacations.

The water is colder and not as clear as Caribbean (except for acapulco)

I think as a West Coaster, i feel the same about Mexico as the east coasters feel about a quick cruise to Nassau.

(This is my opinion only)

I don't feel you have made a mistake, it's probably a great cruise if you have never done it.

Have a great trip.

The real disadvantage of the Mexican Riviera cruises is that the first day out and the last day back are often too cold to be out on the deck soaking up the sun. On a week long cruise, I've got seven days of warm weather in the Caribbean, while I've got five days of warm weather on the west coast.

And the water is colder, even as far south as Mazatlan. Swimming, diving and snorkeling in the Caribbean is much better.

As for the advantages of a Mexican Riviera Cruise, there are many. If you're on the west coast, travel to and from Florida takes up the better parts of two days, while I can fly to LA the day of the cruise and fly home after I get off the boat.

Also, for guaranteed clear blue skies and no chance of rain, the west coast of Mexico is the way to go. Spend a week in the Caribbean, you will get rained on -- warm rain, but rain all the same.

You can't go wrong either way. So don't worry about it.

And by-the-way, I did the Mexican Riviera cruise on the Pride a couple of years ago in February and had a great time. The ship was great, the crew was great, the food was great. No complaints at all.

Had fun in Cabo, while Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan were OK but nothing special. And many Caribbean ports-of-call are also just OK but nothing special.

We were on the Pride in October........and loved it. The only down part was that the first day out and the last day back it was to windy and cold to enjoy being out on deck to enjoy the sun, but the bar area on the Lido deck was fine..LOL

It was a great cruise and I loved the ports.

Not enough time in Cabo though...

I was on the New Years cruise (my first) and it was great! The first and half of the last day was cool but sunny and nice...the first day I wanted to explore the ship anyhow and had fun in the casino. I won the coveted "ship on a stick" for the trivia game! The ship is beautiful, the food was good (yes, the Reuben sandwich was great.. and the Bitter and Blanc (sp?) dessert was my favorite.) I did Carnival's Glass bottom kayak and snorkel in Cabo and the water was not too cold (I'm a baby when it comes to cold water..i never go in the ocean in San Diego and i'm a native) it was about 70-72 . I was very comfortable. The water wasn't very clear, but clear enough to see lots of fish when snorkeling (not a lot under the kayak, but then again i was busy watching the seals and rock formations!) The "guide caught a puffer fish with his hands and let us all pet it! Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan were sunny and warm...my daughter got a bit of a sun burn.

The Pride is a great ship with plenty to do...plus the dining room staff has a lot of great dancers ;-) Read the port of call boards for ideas on port activities

Enjoy!

Our room steward, Lito, was always smiling as were all the ship's crew.

Thanks everyone for your replies - I really appreciate it! I'm too concerned about water temp. since we aren't going till June. It should be plenty warm by then. I've already been scouring the boards for activities and I think we have those lined out.

I was just concerned because there is SO much info about the Miracle, and So little about the Pride. We are very excited about the trip. We all love Mexico and have wanted to do this itinerary for quite awhile.

We weren't on the Pride, but we did a Mexican Riviera cruise 2 years ago and LOVED it! Sure, it may not be as tropical as the Caribbean, but, we're from Seattle and in February we never wore anything but shorts!

We loved the Mexican Riviera and even managed to have a fantastic time in Ensenada ('cause, we like to have a fantastic time, my friend). DH got offered a woman. He declined, but wasn't that generous of them?

Since we are West Coasters, we will definitely go on another one (probably Pride) so that we can go even farther south.

Have FUN!

I have cruised the Mexican Riviera a few times (although not on the Pride) and loved it. I believe the majority of this itinerary are from the surrounding Calif. area. I have come to find out that there are not many people on these boards from the California area. I believe that is why you don't get alot of feedback regarding those cruises. I have heard the Pride is a great ship. We sailed on the Spirit which is the Prides sister ship.

This is a great itinerary and I don't think you will be disappointed:)

Oh and I might add the beer and food are cheaper in these ports then the cribbean. And the locals are wonderful....

I don't know if it was because we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, or what, but we loved this cruise. We met great people. We loved the ship. We had a Category 11, with the aft wrap deck. We liked the ports. They had beautiful places to go at each one. We were also very lucky to have beautiful weather from Day 1 with a little cloudiness on the last day. I found a lot of info on the Pride when we were going. Keep looking!
