New Orleans questions

We're sailing in September out of New Orleans. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping the pro's here can help with:

 

* Someone posted about a hotel that was very near the port - but I can't remember the name of it. Can anyone help?!

 

* What IS the closest hotel (reasonably priced) to the port, and are there any that have shuttle service so we don't have to take a cab? We don't care about amenities as we'll only be there one night.

 

Any other tips about sailing out of NO that we should know about?

There is a shuttle from Fulton St garage that you *may* be able to take or they may say take a hike since you didn't park there. It is next to Holiday Inn Select, Convention Center.

Thanks... Is the "ernest morial convention center" the nearest landmark to the port? (I don't know the exact address of the port...duh. I guess I could have looked that up first! Sorry. :o

Yes, the convention center is very near the port, like next door. There are several hotels right across the street from the convention center on Convention Center Blvd.....

Closest hotels are probably the Wyndam and Hilton, both on the expensive side. Most of the downtown hotels don't have shuttles either to the airport or the port, but cabs are reasonably priced and a ride from just about any of the downtown (French Quarter, CBD, etc.) wouldn't cost you more than about $20 (and that would be for a full cab).

 

There is a Courtyard and a Springhill very close to the port.
