Wife and I boarding Sept. 27 for our 15 year anniversary cruise. Looking forward to it, as we have done 4 Disney cruises before, and this will be completely new for us.

Anything special aside from the room decorations you can do for an anniversary celebration?

What kind of movies do they show in the theater?

We've booked our excursions and Portofino reservations already. Is there anything else we need to do upon boarding right away, or are we good to go back out and walk around San Juan?

Why can't I find this? Soft drinks cost money in the bars, but how about at dinner? On Disney, meal drinks were included.

Is everything/anything open on the ship when in port? Aside from the buffet restaurant?

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

We will be traveling the AOS on 10-4 with a large group of friend/family.

One of the couples will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.

I have read on different threads that cabin door decorations are not allowed on all the ships? A bunch of us got together and made the

anniversary couple small door sign...

Does anyone know if door signs are allowed on the AOS?

Thanks,

Kate

Depending on what time you board your cabin may not be ready for you to drop off your carry on. There may be somewhere they will check it. Someone here will know.

Why can't I find this? Soft drinks cost money in the bars, but how about at dinner? On Disney, meal drinks were included. We usually bring a case of soda and check it with the porters.

Is everything/anything open on the ship when in port? Aside from the buffet restaurant? The shops and casino are closed while in port.

Cheers!

Happy cruising!!:D

I've googled the cabin to death... there a few pics but not the greatest....I guess it will be a pleasant suprise.....!!! :D

Sometimes doing too much research is a detriment since it's nice to have some surprises.... we were on the Navigator so we know this class of ship but they all have sublte differences

Like I'll miss VIntages... being a wino and all

Hey all,

we are just back from AOS from the 9/6 sailing and just wanted to say if you are looking for a place to hang to replace vintages, check out Molly at the Champaigne bar. She is AMAZING!!! and she also makes a mean Choc martini. Sorry I didn't notice if the cappachino machine was working or not but I didn't see any out of order signs on it! :)

We had a great trip and even though you can tell there are cutbacks such as no choc on the pillows, no Crown and Anchor gift, and the quality of the food was less then our last sailing on AOS she is still an amazing ship. Next up though is IOS and then OASIS!

Happy cruising everyone!

When was your last sailing??? I was on the Voyager in February, and the Liberty last August. The food wasn't great, but wasn't bad, either. I am just wondering if it has gone down even more since I last sailed with RCCL.

We just got back from the 9/6 sailing. It seems the whole ship was with a new, inexperienced crew. The stateroom attendant and wait staff seemed like they were not on their game. The food was OK but I have had better. My Brother and his wife were on Brilliance in April and they said the food was top notch and 5 star and on AOS it was about 3 star. Maybe it is just this ship now? I was not as happy with this cruise as I was in May '08 when we sailed her for the first time. When on Liberty in August '07 the entire experience was excellent. We still had an EXCELLENT time and thanks to CC we made some amazing friends but there were still these little dissapointments. I am hopeful for our Indy Cruise in Jan. What I really miss is the chocolates on the pillow and my crown and anchor gift both have been cut out.

Will this deter me from sailing Royal again? NEVER!! Still the best vacation around! Working in retail and as a waiter I know how you can have an off night or a bad week so I understand how it can all go wrong. I will say that even though the wait staff was off their game in the begining of the week, the head waiter stepped up and took excellent care of us. The problem is they are now making the waiter and/or the assistant waiter take the drink order which they never had to do before and it is throwing them off their game. They don't know about drinks and such and the first night we got our drinks about 15 min after our appetizers. Suzanna our head waiter came over and said she will take our drink order the next night and she did. It was a little messed up so the next night she came to the table with post it notes on her face as a joke saying she will write everything down. So even though the food was not as good as it used to be, the service was a little off, in the end they came through and made you forget all about the bumps in the road.

I am not a "foodie" by any means, and the food on a ship does not define my cruise experience.......BUT, there is a definite and noticeable decline in the food quality on RCI. I am off the Freedom a few weeks ago and the food was aboslutely the worst I have ever had on any of my cruises. I am not all that hopeful that things will be different on my AOS B2B in March.

DeDe has been a wonderful Concierge each time we have been on the AOS, and I will miss her. Not only is she great at what she does onboard - she is also a good friend :) I have her personal email address and will keep in touch with her for sure.

Yes, she is leaving big shoes to fill, but I am sure whoever takes over will be good (maybe not AS good! LOL) as DeDe.....

I hope someone who cruises before March will come on here and tell us about the new Concierge

I am sailing tomorrow on AOS and we have been contacted by our new concierge several times! Her name is Vanessa Rodriguez, and she has been very informative of her position and if we need anything! DeeDee has moved to another ship, and will not be returning.

Vanessa was kind enough to call us at home to introduce herself and answer any questions we may have had. We will let anyone know how she was after our btb!
