Weather in the caribbean in january?

Hi all, have my cruise scheduled for next January 2009, I know its a long time off. When I look at the average temps it looks like its not too bad and the amount of rain is low. How were your experiences with weather in the Western caribbean in mid january? Were the seas rough, water temp cool but swimable? Thanks!

The caribbean in January is great. Warm, but not too hot. And lots of sun. How does 80 degrees sound to you right now? :D

I just got back from the western carib and temperatures ranged between 80-85 the whole time and we only had a few showers.

Just back yesterday from 14 nights carribean. The weather was lovely most of the time with the odd 30min shower. We had pretty high winds from Jamaca to Bonnaire and many people suffered a bit with rough seas but overalll the weather was great

We just got back from a southern itinerary and temps between 80-87 the whole time and we only had a few showers on st. lucia

We went Jan 2000 and the weather was really good, so much so we have booked again for Jan 2009, hope its the same!!!
