Southwest Airline changes checke baggage policy

I posted the following on the RCCL board. Southwest will, effective Jan 29,2008, only allow 2 checked pieces of luggage per passenger.

What was it before? I hope they didn't change the weight limit as well! As it is, we often have to pay that surcharge because we overstuff one of our suitcases. I guess we should just weigh them before we leave...

I think they use too allow 3 per person.

WOW! i always thought it was 2....i guess i'm already for the change.

The weight limit is 50 pounds and there is an overall size limit. I think it's 62 inches which is computed by adding the length, width, and height together.

Used to be three. Now it is two per person. No more than 50 lbs apiece. 62 inches, that is legnth plus width, plus height.

WOW ... I fly SW all the time ... usually once or twice a month, and I always thought it was two anyway! Can you still pay $50 for an extra bag?
