BigJohn84 Posted January 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Where in New York City is the port the Spirit leaves from? Any tips on where to stay if we come in a day early? And closest airport to fly into? Thanks! John
lukes Posted January 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2008 NCL docks at Manhattan cruise ship terminal. I believe 12 & 55. Staying anywhere midtown is short cab ride away. However staying Manhattan is very expensive. New jersey is much cheaper.

John The pier is located on the west side of Manhattan along the Hudson between 47th and 54th or so on 12th Ave. If you are looking for reasonable places to stay, try places in New Jersey across from the GWB and drive/take a cab over in the morning. Airports that serve New York City include JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark. LaGuardia and JFK are probably closer than Newark as far as miles from the pier go. Pick the best one that serves where you are going to stay the night before.
garycarla Posted January 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2008 All NCL ships use the same piers there. You might want to check the PORTS OF CALL boards for some more NYC information. Depending on events happening in the city, rates can move up and down. If only one night and you have never been in NYC, then paying to staying in the city might be worth it. It is a one of a kind place. You can actually walk from the pier to Times Square, but NOT with bags. It is a bit of a walk but not bad. Airline rates will somewhat determine the airport you fly into. Newark is a bit further, but if you opt to stay in NJ anyways, then not too bad.
