Hi..... we would like to plan a cruise over spring break of 2009. The trick is that we have 5 children traveling with us so we do not want to be on a "party"ship full of college co-eds. Any davice on how to select a cruise? Our first cruise will be this November on Carnival Inspiration. Thanks.

spring break cruises will all have college kids...the best bet is to spend a little more cash as college kids (i was one) just dont want to spend the money...

Well if you dont want a bunch of college kids around. I'd suggest a Princess cruise. We went on the Island Princess smack dab in the middle of spring break and there were no college kids at all. Other than a few children, I was one of the youngest on the ship and I was 28!

Watch out for the rascal brigade though!:D They dont mess around!

disneymomof5,

I'd recommend any of the seven day Carnival cruises as being good for you and the five kids over Spring Break. We always cruise then (with kids) and have never noticed a college co-ed party atmosphere. Your November cruise on Inspiration is sure to be more of a party ship than any of the seven day options.

I think it all depends which spring break you are talking about. College spring breaks are usually earlier than school district spring breaks - at least here in NY. For example - in 2009 our school spring break is April 9-20th. I know many colleges have break in March sometime. When is your school's spring break? (we get off Easter/Passover)

Cruise over Spring Break on Carnival on a 7 day or longer cruise and you and the kids will love it..... We have been cruising on Carnival over Spring Break for the past couple of years and have never seen or had a problem with kids. Your kids will also have a great time because there will be so many other kids on the ship with them.

Others have said to take another cruise line.... NOT.... you want to cruise a line that will have kids so that your kids will have a good time too..... Do not go on a line that is geared towards the "older" crowd because then your kids will be miserable....

I don't recommend a short cruise because that is where the College Kids will be..... partying, having a good time, making lots of noise, etc., because its cheaper for them and most of them cannot afford the 7 day cruises...

I dont see the college kids taking over the ships, I saw more children then college kids during our spring break cruise and will cruise again on the Sensation this spring break. I dont see cruising as the most popular attraction for college kids, especially under 21, they either go to Mexico or other beaches accepting of that. I saw maybe one group of college kids having a good time around the pool, but again, they didnt take over this ship and they were definately the minority.
