Carnival Pride Capers - January 2008

I just uploaded the Capers from our cruise on the Pride (January 6-13, 2008). On the last page you'll also find a room service menu and Puerto Vallarta Spa Specials. I've scanned the "Today at a Glance" for each day as well, for those of you interested in checking out a specific time on a specific day.

One note, the listings of when each Carnival Legends tryouts will be is incorrect in the Capers. They had that all mixed up, so if you're interested in trying out for the Legends show be sure to go to the Karaoke lounge each night to find out who the tryouts will be for that night. (I've blocked out the last names of all of the Legends performers, for privacy reasons).

Enjoy!

We are leaving on our very first cruise this Sunday on the Pride. My question after looking over the Capers, Is ......Will they allow you to use your own Karaoke Discs ? I was reading on another thread about Karaoke but the Pride is not listed. I hope you can help DH loves Karaoke and I do as well . Thanks in advance.

About using your own karaoke discs, I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to that question. I do know that there were several extremely thick books being passed around and Sean & Melodie had stacks and stacks of books of cd's up on stage. I never personally saw anyone handing over cd's....but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

While we're on the subject of karaoke, there were two types of books floating around......one listed alphabetically by song title and one listed alphabetically by artist. I believe there were 3 of each type of book.

If you want to sign up for the Legends tryouts, the signup sheet was under the tv on the right side of the stage (looking at the stage). On our sailing they were literally begging people to tryout for Aretha Franklin. There were a lot of girls trying out for Britney Spears and Madonna. All of the men tryouts were popular.

I know that doesn't answer your question, winterfawn, but I thought I'd throw that info out there for anyone interested. Have fun on the Pride and a blast singing Karaoke!! :)

Hello there. DH and I will be on our very first cruise 3/2/08 on the Pride and I have a few questions.

How was the comedian? How were the drinks on board? Were they strong enough? Did you sneak any booze and if so how did you do it? What would you do again and what would you skip?

Hi tooexcitedtogo! You're going to love cruising, and the Pride!

I went to see the comedian, but didn't stay too long. He was a typical comedian.....just ok. He seemed to wait for the laughs a little too long and he relied on sexual and racial humor a lot to get his laughs(this was the 10:30 show). My DD stayed for the whole thing and said he got better as he went on, but wasn't the funniest she's seen.

The drinks were good and yes, definitely strong enough. We're not heavy drinkers so if you are, you might find them average. Our drinks tended to be stronger when purchased from the Casino and from the Atrium Bar.

We didn't sneak anything on, I can't help you with that....sorry.

As far as what I'd do again, and not do again......hmmm. I'd go to karaoke again. The hosts are so fun and friendly and everyone always had a good time in there. I'd also participate in as much as possible again. I met a lot of very nice people and the things I did were a lot of fun.

I probably wouldn't dine at David's Supper Club again. It was good, but a little too fancy for my taste. I felt as though they were so concentrated on presentation and impressing that the taste of the food was lacking. I'd like it a little better if they offered more items that are recognizable, as opposed to things I have NO idea what they were. But, I'm glad I did it!

In the ports I found that the people are extremely friendly. They seem to want to make sure you get where you want to go and find what you're looking for. The only times I didn't feel completely safe were crossing the streets (oh my gosh....they're CRAZY drivers there!) and at night in PV near the Boardwalk. There were a lot of guys approaching my DD making comments, offering to be her bodyguard and asking if she wants a Mexican boyfriend. lol We were with a large group of friends from the ship though, so we just stayed with them and we were fine.

In Cabo....when you're in line to get on the tender to go back to the ship.....if there's a small band playing be sure to check out the drummer. If it's the same group as we saw, the drummer is a very small boy. He can't be more than 4 or 5, I'd guess. He's GOOD!

Just a suggestion, if you're interested in parasailing in Mexico......do it in Cabo. If you go to Mango Deck there's a white umbrella near some jetskis. There's a guy there named Alex (at least when we were there) who can hook you up with parasailing, jet skis, banana boat, jet boat, etc. If you talk to him for awhile he might drop the price for you. He did for us. My DD our our friend went parasailing for $35 each (cash only). They were gone for quite awhile and said they were treated very well. You can catch a water taxi at the dock for $3 each that will take you right up onto the shore at Mango Deck (it's right next door to The Office).
