jane02 Posted January 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Hello, My parents are cruising on the Grand in Nov 08 and then joining us for the Christmas cruise on the Grand leaving F.L on 19th Dec. The gap between the two cruises in 10 days and they are not sure what to do during that time. If they stayed in FL is there much to do or can anyone offer some suggestions? Also - accomodation in FL?? Thanks for your help. Kellie There's a lot to do in Fort Lauderdale or Miami that time of year and it's a great time of year to be down here. It's hard to tell you what to do unless we know what they like. There's touring, golf, beach, boating, shopping etc. It may be more fun to go to some other places in Florida besides spending 10 days in Fort Lauderdale. Coming over here to Naples, going to Miami, going to Disney, going to the Key, those are all some options. I would check out the home ports boards to get some ideas and maybe also check Frommers or Fodors for some suggestions. Once you give us some ideas on their likes we can give you some more suggestions.
Colo Cruiser Posted January 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Miami would be a great place to visit, lots to see and do. It is only 22 miles from Fll to Mia. :)
Whimsy Posted January 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2008 If I were your parents I would just take another cruise for 7 days and then just spend the next few days relaxing in FLL waiting for you!
willysgrandma Posted January 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Unless they like sitting by the beach all day, there isn't enough to do in FLL AND Miami for 10 days. I'd rent a car and drive to the Keys.
chris2597 Posted January 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2008 They could do the Keys, Everglades Nat'l Park, Jupiter (Loggerhead Rescue Center), drive over to the West Coast of Fl...beautiful beaches and lots to do. Would they consider taking a cruise for 7 of the 10 days? There are some great prices on inside cabins....cheaper than renting a car, hotel, and food for 7 days and probably less than the airfare home.
