Eurodam Veranda

In the brochure it states that the verandas have solid steel railings instead of clear-view plexiglas. If that is the case on these ships, are you able to see the sea while seated on the balcony?

The trouble with a new ship is the "unknown"!

We are ready to book the Eurodam Cabin 5123 (Verandah Deck 5 Balcony) for February 21 of 2009. It looks great on the deck plan and our TA promises no obstructions. Any advice here? Is the Eurodam in the same class as current ships? If so are the cabins equivilant?

Cabin decks 1, 4, and 5 on the Eurodam are virtually identical to the Noordam. Decks 2, 3, and 6 through 9 are very similar to the Noordam. It is only on deck 10 and the Eurodam's deck 11 that there are significant differences. There are some new cabin classes on the Eurodam (V, VT, VQ, CA, IA ... there may be more that I don't remember offhand) but the rest of the cabin classes are essentially the same as on the Noordam.

I believe the color scheme may be different in 5123 on the E'dam from what you would find on the N'dam, but other that that they are basically the same. All in all, not that much of an "unknown".

Cindy, the balconies on Deck 4 are larger than the balconies on the other decks (at least that is the case with Vista class ships, such as Westerdam). We had 4128 last year and will have 4142 this year (on Westerdam). If you can switch, you might want to consider Deck 4 because of the larger balconies. Just be sure to choose the ones that have plexiglass and not steel.
