chicaletta Posted September 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2004 I need some opinions...I just received my pre-cruise documents for my Nov Star cruise. I was thinking about ordering for myself some casino credit and on board credit. This way my spending money is already there and whatever I bring aboard will be extra. Since I am not experienced in cruising...is this a stupid idea?? Be honest I can take it ;) ;)
crsshiplover Posted September 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2004 I don't think it's stupid, I've been pondering the same thing. I like the idea of going on vacation and not having any "bills" when I come home.
HighRoller Posted September 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Not stupid actually if the amounts are minimal, since you would not be charged the 3% for casino credit withdrawls against your shipboard account. As for the cruise credit for onboard purchases, I think you should take advantage of the grace period on your credit card and pay it once it all gets billed to your credit card, otherwise your paying for your spending in advance. chicaletta Posted September 18, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 18, 2004 Thanks for the quick replies. I figured I would only gamble with the credit I had so I could keep it minimal and I also hate having credit card bills, well actually don't mind the bill as much as the interest. Also my last reason for wanting to do this is because since I cruise in November if I have it paid before hand I could start saving for Christmas. Happy Cruising!! ToplessPony Posted September 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2004 Chicaletta, we did this last Nov on the Grand and plan to do it again for a cruise this Nov on the Caribbean Princess. We didn't send any casino credit just a little less then we guessed we would spend for the week. At the end of the week we only had a $40 balance due on out account!! We budget every year planning on a fall cruise and it was great to get there and basically have the whole trip paid for. It made for a very nice way to start our trip. BTW we are one of the few people who do not use credit cards. Have one for emergency's but once we paid off some big ones from our younger days we swore off them. :) So going on a cruise and having everything paid up front is especially nice for us!
