Passport question/may be applying today

Applied for the kid's passports on Jan. 25th. Received them in the mail today:D Start to finish 12 days!:D

I put in my travel dates and exactly where I was going. I applied last summer when the backlog was going on. When I would call and ask the status of the application that was the first thing they would ask, "When are your travel dates?" Since you're applying now and there is no backlog it shouldnt be a problem if you fill it in or not. Do what you feel comfortable with.

Wow! Current Passport Application Timeline Sample...

 

Feb 1: My husband and I went to the post office last Friday and turned in our applications (to be processed regular NOT expedited).

 

Feb 6: I got an email on Wednesday saying: "Thank you for submitting your passport application! It is currently being processed."

 

Feb 8: Then TODAY I received another email saying: "We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you."

 

ONE WEEK after submission! I didn't know our gov't could move that fast! My advice...go get a passport ASAP if you need/want/thinking about it b/c there's apparently not much of a backlog!

Applied on a Saturday (3 weeks ago tomorrow), and received the passport today via the regular service (not expidited).

 

They returned the birth certificate in the same envelope.
