topspot Posted February 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2008 We are planning a cruise with DD and friend in Nov. We will have her passport. What other documents should we have in case of emergency?? Do we need any documentation from her parents giving permission to take child out of the country? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance:D
sunrise&set Posted February 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2008 Yes, you do need a notarized letter to travel from both parents. This letter should also include a statement regarding permission to seek treatment in case of a medical emergency. We have travelled with our children from previous marriages and have gotten the letter from our ex-spouses, but never had to show them to anyone. This time we are taking my DD's friend and I am bringing the letters. Better to be safe just in case. If you do a google search on Parental Consent to Travel, you should find many websites that will give you a guideline on how to write up the letter. crusinmama06 Posted February 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2008 Get a "Medical Consent to Treat in case of emergency" letter from the parents authorizing you to make medical decisions for their child. ALSO, don't forget to bring her health insurance card (unfortunaly know this one from experience). And get this letter notarized....
