ACJV Posted February 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2008 We are thinking about riding the train from Civitavecchia to Milan, and then possibly renting a car and driving to Bellagio. Does anyone have any input or suggestions? Thanks, Vicki
kdowneymd Posted February 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2008 I would continue on the train (actually you have to switch trains) to go to Bellagio. The train station is in down-town Milan and getting out of the city to the main highway will take almost as long as the drive to Bellagio. Milan traffic is a night-mare at virtually anytime of the day. The train ride is very scenic, switching trains is easy and the trains to Bellagio frequent. Then if you want you could rent a car in Bellagio but the water ferry system takes you from town to town on Lake COmo. Should you want to see some of the surrounding area then a car would be needed.
Rare taxatty Posted February 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2008 The easiest way to get from Milan to Bellagio is by train to Varenna and then taking the short ferry ride from there to Bellagio. I wouldn't bother renting a car--let the various lake vessel alternatives take you around the Lake Como area. Les
