Any info on Cheaptickets

Anyone used this web site?? Great price for our 1 way to Heathrow for T/A in November. Thanks Jack

Please do a search in this forum for info on Cheaptickets.

The tickets may be cheap, but the restrictions are generally VERY strict.

PLEASE READ the fine print associated with any ticket. You may be VERY surprised. Change fees as high as $400.00 or no changes at all. IF there is a problem with your flight, there is a VERY large chance that you will not get any help from CheapTickets and very little help from the airline.

IF your flight schedule gets changed, you most likely will be STUCK with the change. Example: You book flight XXX at 1:30PM returning from your cruise. The schedule is changed to 10:30AM. You can't make it. You likely have VERY little recourse getting it changed without very high change fees.

You have been warned.

Look to AerLingus for VERY reasonably priced one way tickets to London. One stop in Dublin from Boston, JFK or Chicago, then on to London. Keeps you away from clearing immigration in London (which can be maddening). Dublin is a nice small airport and very easy to navigate.

We have booked air thru cheaptickets several times and have not had any problems.

IF your trip goes as booked, of course you will report you had no problems.

Again, booking class plays a LARGE part in how your ticket is handled on CheapTickets IF there is a problem. When you actually pick a specific airline, you most likely are NOT buying consolidator class tickets. But why would you buy those tickets from CheapTickets???

Most of the time you can book as cheaply on the airline website and have DIRECT contact with the airline. No third party intervention/no possible third party problems. Just as an example-October 8-one way-Boston to Heathrow-$379 per person on CheapTickets, 361.89 on the AerLingus website. Better flight too-nonstop to Dublin, nonstop from Dublin to LHR. CheapTickets flights go to Shannon, then Dublin, THEN London. Change fees are $40.00 if you make the change on the AerLingus website, $60.00 if you call.

Change fees on Cheaptickets (direct from the website):

Change fees

"Penalties

If this ticket is non-refundable, changes to this ticket will incur an airline change fee of up to $250 per ticket and an CheapTickets exchange fee of $50 per ticket."

Cheaptickets sells a tremendous amount of consolidator class ticket. Those tickets are generally the ones that you see on the first page where there is NO mention of the airline. Change fees with CheapTickets are really high no matter what ticket class you purchase in and an airline is under no obligation to do anything except get you to your original destination.

A portion of Cheaptickets contract:

Carrier undertakes to use its best efforts to carry the passenger and baggage with reasonable dispatch. Times shown in timetables or elsewhere are not guaranteed and form no part of this contract. Carrier may without notice substitute alternate carriers or aircraft, and may alter or omit stopping places shown on the ticket in case of necessity. Schedules are subject to change without notice. Carrier assumes no responsibility for making connections.

I am NOT saying don't use CheapTickets. READ the fine print and KNOW what you are buying BEFORE you click purchase.
