anytime dining tables for 2

Going on Golden Princes to Alaska in June. Debating on tradtional or anytime dining. Approx. how long would we have to wait for a table for two with anytime dining. Don't mind a few minutes, but longer and we'll get table for 2 in traditional. Any orther info. on anytme? Service? Temp. of food?

Table for two in the Anytime dining room- from opening until about 6:30 just walk right up and be seated, 6:30 - 7:30 maybe 15 minutes, after that probably can walk right up. This varies from cruise to cruise but is what we have found on the Golden and other Princess ships.

 

Service good to Excellant - this can vary just like in traditional.

Temperature of the food - just like traditional - hot when it is hot food and cold when it is cold food.

 

Tables for two in traditional are next to impossible to get.

This is pretty much the same experience we had on the Sun Princess to Alaska in '06 and the Coral Princess to Alaska in '07...

Yes, if there is a wait they have pagers just like shore restaurants. You are then free to walk around in the atrium or go to a bar for a drink until the lights go off on the pager.

 

Not sure if you mean get a table for two in the traditional? If so you can request it when booking and you can see the maitre d' on embarkation day and there might be some slim chance of getting a table for two. We had "anytime" dining on the Golden to Alaska last year so can't tell you if they even have any tables for two in the traditional dining room on that ship. Some ships do not have any in the traditional dining room. FYI we prefer a table for two and were very happy when they started "anytime" dining because it assures us a table for two.

 

No need to see the maitre d' on embarkation for a table for two in the "anytime" dining room. If you like a particular wait staff, table and time in this dining room you might want to stop and see, usually not the maitre d', whom ever is at the door seating people and request a standing reservation at that table.

I doubt if you will have any problem getting a Table for 2 in

Anytime Dining. Maybe you will wait some nights 15 or so minutes but they give you a pager. We never had a problem on any of their ships so far & rarely had to wait more than 15 minutes.

It should not be an issue. I was able to make a standing reservation for a table for 2 every night at 6:15 with the same waitstaff in the anytime dining room. This was on the Grand, however the two are sister ships and I dont think there will be much of a difference.

On our January 2008 cruise, anytime dining did both tables for two and sharing tables. We prefer sharing a table with 6-8 in order to meet other folks on the cruise. The MaitreD asked when we arrived at dinner whether we wanted to share a table. This was a difference from our previous anytime dining experience when we always got stuck with a table for two. Love the DW, but we like meeting others on a cruise!

 

There should not be any problem getting a table for two, however.
