docmsf Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Booked with TA today--June cruise Vancouver to Seward. Friends have told me to book a starboard suite. Planned on a PH. Get this. No starboard suites available in the PH or regular suite G-D (according to TA). She recommended I book a GTY PHC?--thinking luck may play a role. What do you think? Wendy The Wanderer Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I read in another thread that for the Alaska route, the side of the ship really doesn't matter, at least for the views. Perhaps someone else will confirm that.
Iamboatman Posted February 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2008 It really doesn't matter. Almost every port is one which you return to sea the same way you came, so the views are identical. In fact, in some ports the captain will take you for a ride around the bay so the ship is intentionally turned so all have great views. Also, as there really aren't commercial ports, the views on either side of the ship are good. As there really aren't any bad suites on the Mariner, I would agree with your TA and take the Guarantee. You never know, you just might get upgraded. Now that could be a better view.;)
