if you booked a guarantee category, then maybe....but generally, if you book a sepcific cabin, that's what you get.

when they do upgrade, usually it is only within the same category.....OV to OV, Inside to inside, suite to suite....

in 6 cruises, booking specifici cabins, we have never been upgraded.

Upgraded for free? Slim to none these days, it seems. The upgrade fairy doesn't visit very often.

Upgrade at the pier for a reduced price? Again, a very slim chance. Many ships are sailing full.

One thing that you MAY have luck with is to watch the price for your room category for your sailing. You're less than 90 days from sailing; if people cancel their cruises, rooms may become available, and if enough of them do, the price for oceanview cabins may drop. At that point, you may be able to get them to switch you to a "better" oceanview for the same price (or even with money back). I don't know how often this happens on the Freedom (she's so new that she's still very very popular), but for our Jewel cruise last February, we found 3 price drops during January and on the first one, moved from the lowest level inside to the highest level and got money back - and then got more money back on the next two price drops. To do that, you need to know the "base price" (without fees/port charges/taxes) for your cruise, and then you go to their website and pretend you're making a reservation. Don't forget to input the state where you live - that's how we got our price breaks! If you find a lower price for the same category room that you currently have, you're probably eligible for a price drop, and should contact your TA (if you used one) or the cruiseline (if you booked directly through them). I really don't think you're going to see balcony prices drop to the extent that the payment you made for your oceanview would be enough to cover it, though.

Good luck, and have a wonderful cruise!

If you won't be happy with the room you now have, change it! Pay for the "happiness" factor! If you wait, you risk having nothing better to move to! (ships are sailing pretty full--at least the "good" rooms go quickly). If you don't really care WHERE you are, or what size room you have, then stick with what you've booked!

Once you are on the ship, everyone is treated equally!
