bgg Posted February 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Am I asking too much? I'd like to book a post-cruise hotel in Vancouver within reasonable proximity to cruise port and airport. We arrive on the Radiance mid-May and will stay a couple of days post-cruise. Any ideas? Our flight leaves pretty early so we don't want to have to travel that far when we do fly out. Thanks for any ideas.
Rare Jetswdo Posted February 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2008 We decided to stay at Pan Pacific at the main downtown pier. I know there is another dock that some cruise lines use. Check which pier yours will use. Anita

GORDONCHICK Posted February 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2008 We stayed at the Blue Horizon on Robson Street (Vancouver's Rodeo Drive). We had a Q/Q Superior room and it was huge! Every room has a balcony and the hop on/hop off trolley stop is at the doorstep of the hotel. It's not too far from Canada Place to walk, but it would be challenging with more than one piece of luggage &/or children. If your ship is docking at Ballentyne, that's not a great area so you wouldn't want to stay around there.

NancyIL Posted February 21, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2008 No hotel is in reasonable proximity to the port AND the airport. As mentioned, you'll be arriving at Ballantyne and not Canada Place. There are lots of beautiful, expensive hotels fairly close to Canada Place, and they are very convenient for touring the downtown area. We've stayed at the Westin Bayshore twice (using Starwood points for free nights), and its location close to Stanley Park is great. The airport is in Richmond - which is a 30 to 45-minute drive, depending on traffic.

The Hampton Inn is #1 in popularity at Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g154943-d186788-Reviews-Hampton_Inn_Suites_Downtown_Vancouver-Vancouver_British_Columbia.html Others have recommended a 3.5-hour Vancouver tour the morning of your cruise: http://www.vancouvertours.com/tours_1a.html

The hop on/hop off trolley is a two day ticket so you could tour the afternoon you arrive. Then take your luggage to the pier in the morning, and get on the trolley again. Stanely Park is huge and there are many places to get off and walk around. The rose garden is beautiful, and the aquarium is nice (has beluga whales). CowPrincess Posted February 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 21, 2008 If you want to see Vancouver, you'll likely want to stay downtown, instead of near the airport. There's a shuttle that runs from the airport to downtown (costs around $16 each way, I think) and back. The Hyatt on Burrard is decent, and well located. Less expensive than some, but not cheap. The Pan Pacific is FABULOUS as is the Fairmont Waterfront. They are quite expensive but beautiful and right by the Canada Place terminal. There's an art museum in the downtown area -- the Vancouver Art Gallery. I think they have some Emily Carr paintings as part of their permanent collection -- I toured it once and enjoyed it a lot. Stanley Park is always worth a visit, as mentioned. There's also a water taxi that you can take to North Vancouver, a separate city.... just in case you feel the need to be on the water again. And a company runs lunch and dinner cruises http://www.boatcruises.com/indian.html
