STATENDAM Pics Today in Melbourne Australia

Bound for Burnie in Tasmania, this is probably the last time the beautiful Statendam will grace our shores.

We board her in 12 days at Auckland for the WW2 Cruise to Osaka.

Next year she will be replaced by the bigger Volendam as cruising has become so muchmore popular Down Under with many new companies commencing their cruise season from October 2008.

Taken on a 36c cloudless day here in Port Melbourne. We had a picnic dinner on the foreshore & watched her sail into the distance.

Thank you for those beautiful photographs. We will be visiting your shores in late October/early November of '09 on the Amsterdam. Australia and New Zealand have become very popular cruising destinations!:)

G'day there,

We'll be there waving to you...you will love the city & opposite the ship there are modern speedy tram cars to take you into the city in minutes.

Regards

And we'll be aboard! (Oct. 24th cruise) We are soooooooooo excited!

Thanks for the beautiful photos. What a lovely day. I'm hoping we'll have such nice weather, but I'm not counting on it since we'll be early in the season.

Bellair,

Great photos of our Bay. The Statendam certainly had a wonderful day in Melbourne with perfect weather though a little warm though I think today is even warmer. :(

Last year we were fortunate to be invited aboard the Statendam by Prinsendam (Stephen Card) and had a lovely lunch in the Pinnacle Grill while she was in port. It was a day to remember. :)

Great pictures of Statendam in Melbourne.

I know this is the HA board, but if anyone is interested the Queen Victoria is on her way to Melbourne as I type. She is scheduled to make her Maiden call on Feb 21.
