NCL Gem - cabin selection

I couldn't decide if this was the best place to ask or not. We are thinking of cruising the Med. in Sept/Oct 08. How close does the ship sail to land. Will be have better viewing on the starboard side? I also like aft cabins because no wind. Cabin selection is still widely available but hope to book soon. I thank you in advance for any help.

Doesn't really matter. You'll be far enough off shore that you won't be able to distinguish anything. Aft cabins are good!

Thank you for your reply. We just had a aft cabin on final POH cruise. There are still aft cabins available for my date so that is probably what we will do. Thanks
