Misnco Posted February 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Hi All, Need Advice, we are trying to use our miles for our airline tickets, so we are somewhat "restricted" on what flights are offered. With that being said, we are the Jewel returning to Miami on a Monday morning, will we make the 10 AM flight if we "take care" of our own luggage? Any advice would be appreciated as I would like to book flights as soon as possible. Thanks!
RoofingPrincess Posted February 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2008 I wouldn't recommend it. General advice on these boards is to not book a flight home before noon. Sure, IF the ship docks on time AND the ship clears on time AND you self-disbark AND you have no transportation issues, you would probably make a 10 am flight - but do you really want to spend the last day of your trip stressing about all these IFs? Barbee524 Posted February 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2008 If you are able to get off the ship as soon as it docks you may be able to make this. However, my last cruise on the Majesty was a nightmare disembarking. The computers in customs went down and it took us over 2 hours to get through customs. The customs agents had to get permission from Washington to manually process us. I personally wouldn't take the chance.
GMoney Posted February 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2008 I'd do it. I've routinely made flights as early as 8am from MIA. You have to self debark and get a cab to the airport. You'll have the additional challenge of weekday traffic, but it's still doable. However, you have no room for error should something go wrong. Just be willing to accept a Plan B. PantherFan Posted February 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2008 You can make it, we have done many 8:30am flights out of MIA infact, we prefer the early flights. I would recommend walking off with your bags which starts around 6:30am you'll be at the airport by 7-7:30am.
bridedoll1026 Posted February 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2008 "Plan B" could be an investment in travel insurance that covers missed connections.:)
