How much does a cab cost to Lobster Alive?

That would be about right.

Lobster Alive is right next door to Boatyard, so the cab fare should be identical.

 

The Port's immediately on one side of the city,

Lobster Alive(and Boatyard) are immediately on the opposite side of the city.

Is is possible to walk to Lobsters Alive from the cruise terminal? We would also like to walk through town.

If you're a walker (and it's not a stinking-hot day)

yes, it's possible to walk to Lobster Alive, from the Port.

 

Just follow the crowd of other cruisers walking in the general direction

and you'll soon(10-15 mins.?) come to the BROAD STREET(our main street) area with shops,etc.

 

After the shopping, keep walking just a little further, up to the top of Broad St.

and you'll come to an open square with a statue of Admiral Lord Horatio NELSON

which has been there since 23rd. March,1813 (I kid you not).

He's been there before his other statue, in Trafalgar Square,London,England!

 

On the waterfront side of the square, you'll see a bridge with an arch at the other end.

Walk across the bridge, and ask the guys who sell stuff under and around the arch

to point out Boatyard's bright yellow front wall!

The Rasta guy who carves calabash there does amazing work!

 

Continue on, up Bay street another 200 yds, to and just beyond Boatyard

and Lobster Alive's big blue street sign is right there.

We just returned from trip and we went to Lobster Alive.

 

It was very very hot and I would not recommending walking to Lobster Alive.

 

Here is really how much it costs.

 

When you get off the ship there is large area inside gates with cabs, shuttles etc.

 

You have a couple of options:

1. There is a $2.00 pp shuttle (just a large cab that holds 12 people) that will take you to downtown. You can then easily walk from there to Lobster Alive - about 1/2 mile. That is what we did - only because we wanted to see if downtown area was something we wanted to check out after beach - it wasn't. Make sure that when you are waiting in line for cab/shuttle you tell them you want the $2.00 shuttle - otherwise you might get in expensive cab. We double checked before getting into the shuttle that it was $2.00.

 

2. If you want to go straight to the beach then DO NOT get a cab inside the gated area - that will cost you $5 pp. If you walk the 50 yards to outside the gated terminal area - you can then get a cab for $3 pp to Lobster Alive/Boatyard area. You just need to ignore the pushy cab drivers inside the teminal area.

 

It was very disorganized in the cab area in the gated area - hard for people to know where to go and what to do. Don't let them intimidate you - they will try to make you get the $5 pp cab - just say NO and walk outside and save a few dollars.

 

There were cabs waiting outside Lobster Alive the whole day - when you wanted to leave it was easy to get the $3 pp cab back to the ship.

Yes I have updated info - just returned from last week.

 

Lobster Alive:

$5.00 per chair and $5.00 for the umbrella.

 

They have nice umbrella's set up with 2 chairs (Loungers) under them. So total was $15.00 - it is NOT per person so cheaper than Boatyard. You also get a drink coupon for each rental. So for renting 2 chairs/umbrella - you get 3 drink coupons - redemable for rum punch or soda. I'm not normally an umbrella person - but it was so hot I can't imagine spending any time there without the umbrella

 

I was expecting watered down rum punch - oh no - it was very very strong. One glass was all I could handle. Food prices were high - bring some snacks.

 

Jet ski rental people are all around - we paid $40.00 for 30 minutes. It was my first time and great fun.

 

I would go back there again.
