LadyPink Posted February 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Haven't even set a foot aboard yet and spotted this and couldn't help but buy it! Just thought i would share with you, it's a 5d stamp issued in 1969 for the maiden voyage of the QE2. It's not been used and is still on the original tab from the sheet. It just made me smile and i had to have it! :D

LadyPink Posted February 29, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Yes, it's our honeymoon! ;) Wow! You win. I would love to sail on the QE2 but unfortunately we won't get the chance. I don't think i could be tempted to use my poor little stamp but you could use one or two. Have a wonderful time. We are already waiting to see next years schedule! Lyndsey. bcscot Posted February 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 29, 2008 I remember that stamp when it came out. I also remember the public outrage when the cost of a first class stamp went up to 5p decimal (one shilling in 'old money'). That stamp was still 5d 'old money'. Feeling old or what!!!:)
Rare Host Sharon Posted March 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2008 I have one of those - on the proper first day cover envelope too! When I bought it back in 69, I never in my wildest dreams thought I would get to sail on her!!
