We are still cleaning up a little and unpacking etc so a full review will be coming soon... Sam

...need time to unwind and unfuzz the brain....

OK folks, you have both had enough time to unpack, clean up, unwind and unfuzz... come on already... we want to hear the goods :) !

Seriously, we are looking forward to anything you decide to share, and are waiting patiently.

We got socked in with snow on the weekend, had to wait for a snow blower to come and knock 4-5' high banks out of our driveway. I need a good "cruise review fix."

NC I did the same western you are doing back in december. it was the greatest cruise i have ever been on (ok so i have only been on 4 Cruises)(except for sunday when the seas were rough but i didnt let that affect my cruise at all.)

Excellent! Do you have capers anywhere? Do you recall which nights were formal nights?

The May 3, 2008 Roll Call is quite active, you might try reading it for ideas. No, we cannot speak yet from experiences, but we too are all searching for information and sharing it as we can. Come pay us a visit.

Thank you, I will. Our Roll Call was very active before I booked that cruise, but it appears it was mostly people trying to get together and book that one as a Cruise Critic group cruise. They all backed out and there was only a handful of people left and no one is talking. :(

Our Miracle cruise was a 1-off, since it was a special 7-day before they did a special 9-day double-holiday sailing. Since the itinerary was totally different than any other, there wasn't much info available, but that sort of made the buildup even more exciting.

I guess a lot of people really like their sea days. I like to visit new ports, which I why I chose this one. I seriously thought about the Eastern 5/10 sailing, but had just been to St Thomas and hadn't done a Western since 2003.

Keep that Glory info coming! Just made final payment so now I can view my docs. Not that anything is that exciting, as I booked a specific cabin, but it makes it feel like it's closer!

...They are switching back to the Cozumel/Belize/Roatan/Freeport just a cruise or two before we go on the Glory on May 3rd. ...

Actually, I just checked the Carnival site, and discovered our May 3 Western Cruise is the first cruise back on this itinerary.

We had basically the same thing happen on our Roll-call for our Valor cruise last fall, a group that knew each other kind of took it over in the beginning (it seemed that others just did not bother to join). Then most of them backed out, but it was hard to get the tread really rolling after that.

I better stop talking about my experiences, or I am going to get accused of hi-jacking this thread from Dem&Mag. Sorry, I get excited and get carried away some times. Come on back Dem&Mag

Sorry we came back home to an attack of real life and have been running around since we got back, I will work on my notes tonight and tomorrow and I should be able to post more by EOD tomorrow. I will be checking in here so any questions ask away, we have all the capers as well.

If you were to choose; what night would you recommed for the supper club and not miss to much of the fun with your dinner mates? Was there a dinner theme that was lacking great food choices?

Thank you for sharing all your knowldge and information on your trip.

It helps a lot.

Was on the Glory two weeks ago, it was great.. Good clean ship, Glory Won a award in 2007 for the BEST Ship in Carnival FLEET !!!!! Great time, sail her again, YES !!!! Also in ST. Thomas take the Champaine Sunset cruise. It was $ 59.00 a person, well worth the trip, won't be sorry.. Beautiful sunset, and all the Champaine, Rum punch, Beer you can Drink.. It on the same Dock where the Glory is Tied up... We had great weather the whole week, little windy starting out, the Ship is SOOOO Big you could not feel the Waves..

Just wondering if you took the champagne sunset cruise from the ship's excursion or if you did that on your own. Also if you were back to the ship in ample time...thanks

I would love to hear a review of the shows. We are cruising on the Glory the week of March 15th and would like to know which are worth my time, and which ones could be missed. Thanks ... glad to hear you had a great time. FYI ... we are 40 and will be cruising with our kids (14, 13 & 10).

We also were on the ship 2 weeks ago. have been on 8 cruises and we could feel plenty of waves! either we are more sensitive or you had to much rum punch! the whole time from leaving nassau to St. thomas the boat was rocking and a rolling. not that the ship was at fault they announced that there was 45 MPH winds and 10-15 foot seas, unless you werent on the same sailing we were on 2/16. I do agree the Glory was good and posted a review. I am curious to know if your cabin creaked all night like ours. we were in 6463 and all the people around us said the same thing. maybe it was because we were on the back of the boat. If this is the way carnivals ships are designed i doubt i would sail again on one!!

I was on the same cruise and didn't feel a thing? Our cabin was 7340 and in the middle but when at dinner it was nothing. I guess it effects everyone differantly.

Ugggg... i know what you mean... i never ventured into any bars... but once you hit the doors near the casino... i almost had to hold my breath as i walked thru... it was horrid.

luckily, i dont gamble.

one day,DH wanted to nap in a lounge chair... which unknown to him, was the "smoking section".

Did you know Bar Blue is a non-smoking bar? We were on the 1/12 sailing of the Glory and we spent a few evenings in there listening to "Music Connection", we really enjoyed it.

One of the many good things about the Miracle was that she was much much less smoky than the Fantasy-class ships I'd sailed. Elation was so bad I couldn't spend any time in the casino. Caused my asthma to kick in. Of course, it keeps me from losing all my money, too, but I do enjoy playing the slots for an hour or so in the evening.

Good to know the "Music _______ " band is in a non-smoking bar! Looking forward to that.

REALLY... I had never heard that... we will likely enjoy that come May. I cannot remember, is there a dance floor at Bar Blue?

I'm guessing that if there's a band, there's a dance floor.

But I don't see much space for one on the deck plan. Those can be deceiving, though.

I did a search for deck plans, and see this is the same bar/location as "Paris Hot" on the Valor. I do now remember it (on the Valor); band, dancefloor etc... but had not realized it was smoke-free on the Valor. I am really looking forward to that.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would love if someone can email me the capers and/or what night each menu is. Iam trying to decide what night to go to the supper club. There are 2 menus that seem just ok to me so I would like to pick one of those nights.

Thanks

What do the supper clubs offer? Ive never been on a Carnival ship and am curious of the menus and what the supper club offers. I'de love to try it because ive heard its worth the money to eat there. I just don't want to go there on a night that will be great in the dining room.

Just visit the carnival web site, look under daily activities, dining, and they have a link to the supper club and menus.

Just have to stay the Glory is a great ship, we were on her two years ago, and we just booked the western route for Oct.

Now to me the only thing I noticed is that the ship did rock alot, but we had a cabin way in front of the ship, so maybe that's why, but other then that we loved it. The food, service, and shows were great.

There is a roll call going, but very slow, so if anyone else is sailing Oct 4th, on the glory, come join the roll call.

Happy Cruising All !!!

From what i recall reading... there should have been a Meet and Greet, but I did not attend as i was with others from our lil group.

we were Western Caribb ..... Cozumel on Monday, Belize on Tuesday and Nassau on Friday.

totally smooth sailing Sun-Tues .... then that cold front came thru and we had rough seas. Wed & Thurs were almost down right nippy ... and VERY windy. upper decks closed, ect.

I do have all my Capers from this, though DH tossed one of them. I still have to fish them out of all my paperwork .... so if anyone is interested in Western Capers.....

oh and all this talk about Wee Jimmy ?? [even our transport driver had him]

we had Ryan Fitzgerald and the Captain was still .. OH heck... forgot his name.. but the Italian one that's been there off and on for 4 yrs.

Like I said... need time to unwind and unfuzz the brain....

Please post the Glory's W. Caribbean capers....I will be on the W. Caribbean itienary May 3-10.
