jerseygirl3 Posted March 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2008 My husband and I put down a deposit for a future cruise (to be named at a later date) in September 2005 while we were onboard the Caribbean Princess. At that time, I was told by the girl who took the reservation that we had four years to use it. Specifically, I asked did that mean we had to CRUISE by that date, or just BOOK a cruise by that date (September 2009). She told me we just had to book something by September 2009. Well, today I called Princess and they said no, that's not true. The cruise has to be taken within 4 years, not booked within 4 years. I just thought I'd give a head's up to anybody else who was given misleading information. Since I was told it just had to be booked by September 2009, I figured that gave me almost 2 add'l years beyond that date, given that cruise pricing comes out a good 18 months beforehand. But apparently not so.
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted March 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Good to know! My first reaction was "oh my god, not on a cruise is 4 years!!" ;)
jerseygirl3 Posted March 5, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Good to know! My first reaction was "oh my god, not on a cruise is 4 years!!" ;) Oh trust me, we've been on plenty of cruises in between those four years!!! We average 3/year. However, we've been doing more RCI and Celebrity recently and just can't seem to fit in that Princess cruise. We were looking at the Crown Princess for next October, but my TA planned a group cruise (which we try to be a part of every year) on Celebrity Solstice. So I'm not sure we'll be doing another cruise between that one and September 2009. We usually cruise later in the fall, so I really wish Princess would extend that future booking a couple of months. Toto2Kansas Posted March 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I had my FCC sitting here on the desk. It definitely says "This credit is valid for four years from date of issue". Now that is clear as mud isn't it? LOL It really does leave room for the user to interput either sailed by four years or booked by four years. I never hang onto them that long, but I honestly thought they were good as long as you booked your cruise within the four year timeframe. I just can never seem to hang onto them that long, they burn a hole in my desk. ;)
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted March 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I think you can get a full refund on the FCC if you don't use it. Doesn't help when you want to book Princess again, but at least there's some relief. (and I should have looked at your footer. You have definitely been cruising!) You can get a full refund at any time just by calling and requesting it. I think the OP wants to use it rather than wanting the money back. . jerseygirl3 Posted March 5, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Actually, in my previous post, I meant to say we were planning on doing the Crown Princess for next February (not October), but decided on Celebrity Solstice instead. And yes, I would really like to use the FCC. If I can't fit a Princess cruise in by September 2009, I'll just request a refund. But it just irks me that I was told that I just had to "book" a cruise by September 2009. I wonder if I was given incorrect information by the person I spoke with today at Princess (not that that EVER happens!!!LOL). Jo-Ann
