  1. They have a set seating time every night so that that MDR becomes traditional in a sense. You still have the other MDR for walk in.
  2. As someone said previously, the crowd outside the dinning room on deck 7 does get better as the cruise goes on as people learn the system. There are even people going to deck 6 that are confused and get caught in the crowd. The first few days, it went down the hall past The Wheelhouse Bar!
  3. That has to be one of the stupidest things I’ve seen on a ship. Totally useless. How about talking to a server. And does it really ring?!? Another noise I could do without while enjoying my Sanctuary time. Im already dreading the sound of pickleball coming from Park 19.
  4. Having been on the Star Princess fire cruise with a full muster drill, it didn’t really help for a lot of folks. We went through the check list (long pants, hat etc but forgot my pills) and arrived at the muster with people still in pajamas. I feel I don’t need to watch the video anymore since I’ve been through it but I still keep the volume on and listen for anything different. On planes they don’t say “if you’ve flown before, you don’t have to pay attention”. Safety is for everyone’s safety, not just yours.
  5. We were on the April 8th sailing and was amazed at how many things were broken and needed repair. Not things that were not ready yet. But things that were working at the start of the cruise and then weren't during it.
  6. There is no reserving loungers. The Sanctuary on the Sun Princess is not like the other ships. It’s a special sun/pool deck for those in Sanctuary class cabins. No one else is allowed in. Show up and grab an empty lounger. If you leave someone else can take that lounger and when you come back grab another open lounger.
  7. First of all, Princess lists the ship name first. It’s called the Sun Princess. The casino is NOT smoke free. We were on the 5th sailing ever and it already smelled horribly. I couldn’t be in there at all. Even walking through was a terrible experience. Never been in an inside cabin. Bid upgrades are not frequently available. You can bid on whatever class of cabins are being offered. But because you are in an inside cabin, your bids will already be higher to upgrade than say someone already in a balcony. 7 day Caribbean cruises in March will attract a lot of college kids. Late April will have more kids as it’s April Vacation in the Northeast. Welcome to being a “live” CC member. Enjoy your first cruise.
  8. People are just joking around. They re not changing the name.
  9. It’s about 2 hours each way to Kotor. I was not spending 4 hours in a car for a 2 hour tour. My private tour guide even offered to come get us.
  10. Reflection has not been "Revolutionized" so you have the old decor and Michaels as the retreat lounge.
  11. The fried rice is different than "potatoes or rice". You should definitely eat it. It has much more flavor than just rice. But still, moderation. 🙂
  12. The Hot Pot doesn't interest me but the Teppenaki was a nice experience that I hadn't experienced on the ship. I wish we had better table mates. None of us really interacted with each other. We basically conversed with the people we came with. There were other tables having more fun. Oh, and don't fill up on the fried rice!!! They cook the rice then the vegetables and then the meats. You supposed to eat as you go along. They make SO much rice that I was full by the time the meats came.
  13. No, they are two totally different food experiences. The Teppanyaki is where you are all sitting around a hot plate and the chef cooks your food in front of you usually doing some theatrics and tossing of food. If you have the right table mates it can loud and boisterous. The Hot Pot is where you order raw food and YOU cook it in the pot of either hot water or oil (I think). Search on you tube as some folks have done videos on it.
  14. Same restaurant. The Teppanyaki tables are in the middle and the Hot Pot tables are around the sides. But you make reservations for one or the other. They Teppanyaki have set dinner times as you are eating with other people you don’t know. Not sure about the Hot Pot rules.
  15. The only time I even noticed lots of people was at 7pm outside the aft elevators on deck 7. And only at the beginning of the cruise. There was confusion because that was the entrance to the anytime dinning plus you needed to go down the aft stairs to get to the deck 6 for the traditional dinning. I think everyone was confused about where to go and it created a big cluster. We were heading to pre dinner cocktails so we just excused ourselve through the crowd. There were also large crowds trying to get into the Cirque show in the dome so we just skipped it. Otherwise, I didn't notice crowds at all. There are a lot of different places on the ship. (We also avoid the main pool at all costs because of noise and crowds so can't comment on it.)
  16. Will the new Signature Restaurant still have "elevated cooking" as it does before the change or will it now just have the same exact food as the MDR. Not sure if there is a separate kitchen.
  17. And I assume that the Sanctuary Restaurant will now just serve the same menu as the main dinning room? I assume it will use the same kitchen. When it was a separate restaurant it was basically the same menu but elevated cooking.
  18. I just watched a video and it looks like the entrance is on port side. Do your research and book accordingly. But I doubt it will be anything like the MDR at 7pm. Crazy town.
  19. We couldn’t book it ahead of time as I was on the April 8th sailing. I didn’t have a suit coat and tie. Maybe that’s why they didn’t enforce it. Only about half had either. I would have skipped it if they were enforcing it. Maybe someone more recent can weigh in.
  20. We were in 17636 before Love by Britto was active but were definitely concerned about people finding that aft "balcony" around the corner from our balcony. Especially smokers. We only had people there one day and it wasn't too bad. Love by Britto is not a very big restaurant so I wouldn't expect too much foot traffic. Especially for 17636 because I think the entrance is on the starboard side. I wouldn't expect people staying on the balcony for too long while they wait for a table. I would guess that 17636 wouldn't be a problem but I would like someone that did sail since the restaurant opened to let us know.
  21. No need at all to wear formal wear. We both wore a dress shirt and dress pants and did not feel underdressed. They won't say a thing. Even the Retreat Host said that we would be fine. No tie. No jacket.
  22. I thought the same thing!! 🙂
  23. I have never had anything but excellent experiences on Celebrity. We celebrated my husband’s 60th on the Apex and they treated all 8 of us like queens! Was on the Apex again 3 months later and the entire Luminea staff hugged us when we walked in. So sorry that you had a bad experience.
  24. Yeah, me too. It really is different cruising! I had to tell the waiters that it wasn’t that I didn’t like the food, I just couldn’t eat it. I lost 4 pounds on my last cruise! It was port heavy and we did a ton of walking!!
  25. Do a search on here. I did an extensive review (without giving too much away).
