Cerinda Posted September 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2004 What does it mean when a cruise suddenly appears on the website with full brochure pricing and every single category closed? Just a matter of weeks ago, the higher categories dropped in price significantly (yahoo!). Just a few days ago, almost all the categories showed as available. Can a ship as big as the Oosterdam actually sell out a March Mexican Riviera cruise in September? Is this just a website maintenace issue? A huge group? How do you find out? Krazy Kruizers Posted September 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2004 It can possibly be a computer problem on HAL's part. OR A large group may have booked the ship. OR Maybe it is being chartered out.
1cruiselvr Posted September 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2004 I'd check back in a few days to see if things change. Could be any of the suggestions posted, and if so,there's always the chance that the charter or group cancels and the sailing opens up again. Happy Sailing! pollux Posted September 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2004 The cruise could be sold out beacause of Promo 41. Its a special for Mariniers in California,Nevada and Arizona. It offer low fare and free parking in San Diego. I booked several weeks ago for the 29th Jan. The fare is Inside 629, outside 779 and verandah 899 the free parking is almost a $100 discount. want2travelbad Posted September 24, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2004 Yikes, Cerinda! I know we are on the same sailing. You are right that just recently there seemed to be availability in most categories, and prices were great. We booked just two weeks ago. Well, if the ship is full, I am glad we were able to book when we did, and I am thankful I was able to snag a verandah stateroom and my airfare for very decent prices, especially considering it is spring break in many parts of the country. dakrewser Posted September 24, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2004 I just looked and both the March 5 and 12 sailings have availabiliy in just about every category. I'd say it was a 'human error'

Can a ship as big as the Oosterdam actually sell out a March Mexican Riviera cruise in September? Is this just a website maintenace issue? A huge group? How do you find out? I've seen this occur intermittently with all of the cruises I've booked. The categories reopen within a day or two. It's likely that HAL is rebalancing passenger load, probably with renewed TA allocations.
Cerinda Posted September 25, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted September 25, 2004 Our TA called and left a message late yesterday: the ship is chartered out. I'll call her tomorrow to discuss what she called "other options."
want2travelbad Posted September 26, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2004 Keep us posted, Cerinda. I am anxious to hear what "other options" your TA will propose for you. I am going to sit tight and wait to be contacted.
